The small neighborhood of Graceland Park in Southeast Baltimore is a densely populated community located on the border of the Baltimore City/County line. Once a large plot of farmland, during the 1940s Graceland Park evolved to accommodate the many steelworkers who flocked to downtown Baltimore in search of work at one of the area’s many manufacturing plants. In turn, with the growth of industries like Bethlehem Steel, General Motors, and Western Electric, the need for housing became urgent. Quick builds, including bungalows and cottage style homes soon lined the streets. Today, the community of Graceland Park continues its former legacy with many of the architectural styles remaining the same.

Homes in Graceland Park consist primarily of detached single-family homes, many having been built in the early 40s and 50s. Common styles here include minimalist Cape Cods, bungalows, cottages, and ramblers. The area also features many duplexes and even some sections of traditional Baltimore rowhomes. Houses vary in construction material depending on the era built, some utilizing red-brick others opting for wood paneling or even modern siding. While this community does not have any park spaces to call their own, the majority of homes here feature small front and back yard spaces perfect for gardening. The average sales price here is $180,000 with price points varying depending on the age, size and condition of the property.

Students here attend Baltimore City Public Schools like Holabird Elementary, Booker T. Washington Middle and Patterson High School. Serving over 1300 students in grades nine through twelve, this school is the most diverse in the county. With students from all different backgrounds, this school promotes collaboration and understanding, across an array of academic, athletic and career programs.

For all your daily essentials, Dundalk Avenue offers a variety of mini-marts and casual eateries for quick bites, while larger-scale grocery stores and retailers, like Savemart Supermarket and Home Depot, can be found along Eastern Avenue to the north. Less than a five-minutes walk from Graceland Park, you'll also find The Johns Hopkins Bayview campus. A large area employer, residents can rest easy knowing a major source of health care is so close by.

For some scenic views, a walk to the top of German Hill Road offers a look at Baltimore’s cityscape. Take a look south and you’ll also be able to spot the majestic Key Bridge in the distance. History buffs will enjoy exploring this communities many historic cemeteries, like the Hebrew Cemetery, which features a gigantic red-brick entryway.

Another perk of living in Graceland Park? It’s proximity to the major thoroughfares of I-95 and I-895 which help commuters get where they need to be. Or for a change of pace, head into Downtown Baltimore to peruse Fells Point, the Canton Waterfront Park, or the Inner Harbor. Enjoy the waterfront promenade with its many novelty shops and restaurants, or for an extra special trip, plan a visit to the National Aquarium and explore thousands of species of marine life at your leisure.
