Charming small town living just 12 miles from Philadelphia

Residents can make a home in Barrington, just like Super Bowl MVP and backup quarterback Nick Foles. The former Philadelphia Eagles star found the Camden County borough to be the perfect spot to make his nest during his legendary run with the team. The tight-knit community is home to neighborhood parks, community events and classic suburban charm. It’s also minutes from Interstate 95 making it an ideal location for commuters and those seeking easy access to Philly’s amenities.

Quiet suburban ranches and Colonial revival homes with budget-friendly prices

While some might imagine the town of an NFL star to be sprawling with giant mansions, it’s more of a modest suburb with a mix of average single-family homes, including ranch-style, bungalows and a variety of new traditional, split level and colonial revival homes. Residential areas are generally quiet, allowing for a peaceful stroll along the neighborhood’s tree-lined sidewalks. Prices here range from $250,000 to $475,000. Real estate agent Eliza Babcock, of Keller Williams Realty, lived in Barrington for five years. She says, “What’s great about it is it’s priced much lower than Haddonfield. If you love Haddonfield and want to spend half the money for the same house, Barrington might be your answer.” For comparison, homes in Haddonfield range from $400,000 to more than $1 million.

Residents can visit themed parks around Barrington

"Quirky" is one way to describe Barrington’s two parks. Wish-Upon-A-Star Park offers an all-inclusive playground experience with abstract playhouses, a giant xylophone and a jungle gym. Residents can stomp over to Lost World Park, a woodsier, dinosaur themed park tucked away from nearby homes. Despite the name, velociraptors have been banned for millions of years, but people and pets are more than welcome to pay a visit to the park's playground, basketball court and the fenced-in dog park.

Home to seasonal events like the annual Harvest Festival

Barrington is known for having an active and inviting community. “They have local people making things happen,” says Babcock, “The town has done a great job hosting community events.” Residents gather for events year-round such as the annual Harvest Festival, a popular fall event that started in the late 1990s and has grown exponentially over the years, featuring hundreds of vendors, live music, a classic car show and much more entertainment for people of all ages. Other popular events include town-wide yard sales, a Christmas parade and tree lighting and Brews Beats & Eats, a lively food truck and beer garden festival.

A revitalized downtown home to breweries and antique stores

Barrington’s quaint downtown sits along Clement Bridge Road where most of the local businesses can be found. “The old downtown area has seen revitalization over the past decade, one of the biggest additions has been Tonewood Brewing,” says Babcock. The large brewery is the company’s second location and is a popular spot to hang out and drink craft beer. Residents can also grab a drink right across the street at Old Rail Tavern and eat comfort foods like burgers, pizza and wings in a rustic atmosphere while watching the Eagles or Flyers play. There are several local shops in the downtown area as well. Whether residents are searching for treasures at Haddon Heights Antique Center or need a bouquet from The Wildflower Florist, there are plenty of independent stores to support here in Barrington. For groceries and big box stores, residents can head to White Horse Pike where there is a Walmart, Lowe’s and several locally owned restaurants.

Commuters are close to major thoroughfares like New Jersey Turnpike

“The community is unbeatable for commuters,” adds Babcock. From almost any point in the neighborhood, residents are no more than two minutes from a major road that can take them in any direction, including Interstate 295, Route 30 and the New Jersey Turnpike. NJ Transit offers bus routes throughout the neighborhood and surrounding areas. There is also a local PATCO light rail stop that takes residents into Philadelphia or Camden. Major roads and public transport make it convenient to get to nearby Philadelphia International Airport. Easy access to nearby cities makes Barrington an ideal location for commuters to Philly and beyond.
