From transporting crops to commuters
Incorporated in the late 19th century, Bartlett has changed a great deal since its start as a waystation for the Chicago and Pacific Railroads. "When it was established, Bartlett served the surrounding farms, putting crops and livestock all over the country," says Pam Rohleder, Director of Bartlett's Museums. "Now it's grown into more of a bedroom community for Chicago." With various museums, public facilities and restaurants, the residents of Bartlett take pride in the community's perks. "I've lived in Bartlett since the 1960s, and we've got a lot of cultural strengths," Rohleder says. "It's the amenities we live with, combined with how safe it is."
