Older homes along the Susquehanna River in rural Barton
Sitting along the Susquehanna River in Tioga County, New York, Barton has older homes with forest and farmland settings. “It’s a small community with rural living," says Tracie Simons, an associate broker with Knolles Real Estate, who’s been selling homes in the area for nearly a decade. "That’s what most people here are looking for.” Waverly, the county's largest village is about 6 miles away and has a more traditional neighborhood atmosphere.
Traditional homes starting in the $100,000s
Traditional-style homes, some from the late 1800s, come with rural lots ranging from a quarter-acre up to 5 acres. These houses range from $100,000 to $350,000 and some have long driveways or detached garages. In Waverly, bungalows and National-style homes sit close together along gridded streets with some front and back yard space. Most houses have driveways for vehicle parking, though only a few have garages. Prices in Waverly also range from $100,000 to $350,000.
