Neighborhood in Bay Point, California
Contra Costa County 94565
Near the estuaries of Suisun Bay in Contra Costa County, California, lies a mix of residential and industrial spaces known as Anuta Park. Once referred to as 'West Pittsburg', the census-designated place is a part of the Bay Point area. "Anuta Park is off Willow Pass Road and is central to the cities of Pittsburg and Concord," says Jaymie Tumaliuan, a Realtor with Keller Williams Realty East Bay, who has served the region for over 10 years.
Single-family detached styles lean toward multi-level homes with steep sloping rooftops and simple ranches. Many of these properties have exposed decorative wooden beams that offer a rustic flair. Dwellings are concentrated around the square-shaped Lynbrook development in the southwestern corner. The area also contains apartments and other attached units. The housing market in Anuta Park ranges from $450,000 to $650,000 on average. The neighborhood is located in a flood zone; however, the county has implemented a flood mitigation plan to minimize property damage that may be caused by natural disasters.
Young residents are served by the Mount Diablo Unified School District and the Pittsburg Unified School District; both school systems are considered among the top in the county, ranking No. 5 and No. 6, respectively, on Niche. Those to the west may begin their academic journey at Shores Acres Elementary School, which earned a C-minus on Niche; Kindergarten to fifth graders closer to the southeastern side may attend Willow Cove Elementary, rated C-plus. These students can move on to Riverview Middle School, rated a C, or Rancho Medanos Junior High, ranked C-plus. Local teens may graduate from Mount Diablo High or Pittsburg Senior High, which received a B-minus and B, respectively, on Niche.
Businesses are found along Willow Pass Road and Port Chicago Highway. Locals can get pantry items, produce and kitchen supplies at local markets, Mi Tierra and La Fiesta Mexicana. Bills Ranch Market is a longstanding outdoor produce market selling seasonal fruits and vegetables. Following Willow Pass Road for just over 5 miles will lead to the boutiques and restaurants of Todos Santos Plaza in Concord. The community has a limited number of dining options. Still, there are a handful of casual eateries selling Mexican-style fare, such as Los Reyes. "Many will also travel to Concord for dining or visit the town center to access retailers and major shopping brands," Tumaliuan says. Anuta Park shares its boundaries with industrial properties, and the county continues to monitor the short and long-term hazards associated with these nearby facilities.
On Willow Pass Road is a small gathering spot that bears the community's name. The green space, Anuta Park, has play areas, barbecues and picnic tables that invite locals to enjoy the outdoors on a sunny afternoon. Tumaliuan says that there are often locals playing soccer in the park. Lynbrook Park rests at the center of the neighborhood's residential corridor. There is updated playground equipment, a half basketball court, and a spacious grassy field. During the summer, some will head here for youth soccer camp. Both community parks are managed by the Ambrose Recreation and Park District. Bay Point Regional Shoreline is an undeveloped estuary of Suisun Bay where locals can fish on the shore, hike and bird-watch. In 2020, the 150-acre wetland underwent a restoration project to improve and increase public accessibility to the marshes.
Next to the shoreline is McAvoy Yacht Harbor, where locals can access the boat ramp to launch into the bay and store vessels. The marina also has a fish cleaning station and an onsite restaurant. At the Pittsburg / Bay Point Station, residents can hop on the BART to commute throughout the region and Tri Delta Transit service for surrounding communities. Anuta Park is located next to Highway 4, which grants access to the rest of the Bay Area.
