Among Fairway Canyon's parks, Niklaus Park is one of the largest and most popular, with a tot lot, disc golf and an off-leash area for dogs. The Cienega Canyon Preserve is just beyond the park grounds, and it has more than 350 acres of woodland, sage scrub and chaparral habitats. Interstate 10, Beaumont Transit buses

Fairway Canyon is car-dependent and can feel secluded, but it adjoins I-10, so traveling north or south is convenient. It's about 30 miles to Riverside and 74 miles to Los Angeles. State Route 60 is close by and meets Interstate 215, about 20 miles west of Fairway Canyon. Via I-215 south, the trip to San Diego is about 95 miles.

Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon
