Bellefonte offers country club amenities outside Ashland
Incorporated in 1951, Bellefonte is the youngest town in eastern Kentucky. However, its mature oaks and Colonial Revival homes from the 1920s show some deeper roots. At its core, Bellefonte is a country club community, built around Bellefonte Country Club, which was established in 1921. Between the club's private recreation and the community's large homes on spacious wooded lots, it's easy to see why Bellefonte is considered to be the top tier of residential options in the tristate region. "Bellefonte is probably the most desirable place we have in the Ashland area," says Alison Christie, an agent with Ross Real Estate who was born and raised in the area and has been selling homes here for almost 25 years.
Mature oaks shade Bellefonte's spacious suburban streets
Bellefonte is a slice of Kentucky countryside in Kyova, the tristate region of Kentucky, Ohio and West Virginia. "It's an idyllic suburban setting with lots of big trees along the streets," Christie says. "You'll see lots of people walking around the community with their family and their dogs." Homes have ample privacy on roomy, sloping lots in the hilly landscape. Colonial Revivals range from $300,000 to $550,000, with larger updated homes on the higher end. On the smaller side of the spectrum, 1970s ranch-style homes can go for $150,000 to $300,000. Home prices are highest in Old Bellefonte, at the northeast corner of Bellefonte Country Club, where large 1920s Colonial Revivals, Tudor-inspired homes and 21st-century New Traditional mansions range from $580,000 to $925,000.
Private golf and pickleball at Bellefonte Country Club
The private Bellefonte Country Club serves as the community's social and recreational hub. Along with tennis, pickleball and a pool, its 18-hole golf course is considered one of the best in eastern Kentucky. The clubhouse features a dining room serving brunch, lunch and dinner, plus a banquet room where members host weddings, birthdays and other events. Central Park, less than 4 miles southeast in Ashland, has a playground, lawns, walking paths and ball fields sheltered by shady oaks.
