Belvoir offers rural living near the action of Greenville
Belvoir is a tranquil, rural community about 10 miles north of Greenville . “It’s nice to be out in the country, surrounded by farmland, but also 20 minutes from all the conveniences of the city,” says Melinda Deigan, broker with Realtor United Real Estate East Carolina who has lived in the area for more than 30 years. “Suburbs like this one, in this part of North Carolina, have a little bit of a slower-paced lifestyle,” adds Joe Carteret, Realtor with The Carteret Group at Simply Brokerage. “They’re a little more laid-back, which is what people are looking for in addition to the convenience and the price point.” With less than 350 residents and just one four-way stop in the center of town, Belvoir provides a quiet respite outside the action in Greenville.
Most of Belvoir is made up of farmland and wide-open rural landscapes.

Ranch-style homes with acreage dominate the landscape
Most residences in Belvoir's section of Pitt County are modest manufactured homes or classic ranch-style ramblers, if not true farmhouses overlooking acres of crop fields. “Like everywhere in the country, the suburbs tend to house people who want to spread out on more land,” Carteret says. “I think Covid drove a lot of this, but people wanted a place where the kids could go out in the yard and run around inside the house in the middle of the city." He adds that the market in Belvoir has been steady, likely because homebuyers are drawn to the land-to-price ratio. “You get more land for less money outside the city proper,” Deigan agrees. Homes typically sit on 2 to upwards of 5 acres, and prices can start at around $175,000. While the average value of a home is around $222,700, prices can rise to $500,000 for a sprawling property with more acreage.
