Dutch colonial-like main street community

Bentleyville, located about 25 miles directly south of Pittsburgh in Washington County, is an appealing rural western Pennsylvania suburb. Established homes featuring traditional architectural styles dot quiet neighborhood streets. Residents are served by a Main Street that bisects the community and provides a surprising level of convenience. The surrounding landscape is relatively untouched, featuring acreage homes scattered among the farmland. Those living in the community enjoy a laidback country lifestyle with the added benefits of access to top-rated schools and interstate travel for work and play.

Mansard roofs for miles

Prevalent in the community is a collection of established homes, from Colonial Revival farmhouses built at the turn of the 20th century to minimalist brick homes built after World War II. Many of the homes have been upgraded over the years, including remodeled Dutch Colonial Revival homes with Craftsman touches and modernized bungalows. Dutch Colonial Revival is the most common architectural style in Bentleyville. Homes are typically priced between the low $100,000s to the high $200,000s, although acreage homes can sell for hundreds of thousands more depending on how much land accompanies the purchase.

Close commuter routes

Interstate 70 borders the north side of the community and can be easily accessed for work commutes or travel around the greater Pittsburgh area. Route 917 actually leads directly to downtown Pittsburgh, but if interstate travel is more the speed, I-70 connects to I-79 about 15 miles west of Bentleyville. From there, Pittsburgh is about 25 miles away. Despite the difference in miles, the travel time for each is roughly an hour.

Community parks for community pastimes

Bentleyville Richardson Park is a community green space located in the heart of town along Pigeon Creek. It hosts youth soccer competitions and is the home of community events, including an annual Fourth of July celebration. A paved trail encircles the park, making it a popular spot for walkers, bike riders and skaters. The neighborhood’s youngest residents have access to a small playground there. Baseball and softball competitions take place nearby at Caramel Park. Ellsworth Community Park on the south side of the community offers basketball courts and a larger children’s playscape. Golfers in Bentleyville have access to the nearby Chippewa Golf Club, a popular public facility that features an 18-hole, par-70 layout that winds its way for 6,000 yards among the tree-filled, rural landscape of Washington County.
