Fast growing town with new schools
Just 14 miles north of Shreveport, Benton is a town with a booming population. “It’s by far the fastest growing town in the entire area,” says Mindy Wardlaw, who has over 20 years of real estate experience with Pinnacle Realty Advisors. “The main push is the schools and the outdoor recreation driving people to Benton.” Benton is home to a pair of lakes and is bordered by the Red River to the west. The water features are popular spots for fishing and swimming. There is also a good deal of green space in the area. Benton is further out than most Shreveport suburbs, giving it a bit of a rural feel, but the town has all the conveniences of most suburbs. Highway access makes it easy to get to Shreveport or other surrounding areas in a matter of minutes. The schools are some of the newest in the highly-rated Bossier Parish district, and many of the homes are new construction.
Newer homes, modern builds
The median price for a single-family home in Benton is just over $300,000. Older homes tend to be brick, ranch-style builds, while newer houses are larger Craftsman houses. “The prices are slightly higher than the surrounding areas, but that is to be expected with the amount of people rushing in,” says Wardlaw. Newer subdivisions in Benton feature larger homes on close-together lots. The houses sit on quiet streets with minimal traffic and have driveways and garages. Green lawns and sidewalks make it a pet-friendly environment. The older homes are smaller but have more land and a greater sense of privacy.
The average single family home size in Benton is about 2,112 Square feet.

Both schools received A-minus grades from Niche and were ranked as the No. 2 school in the district for their respective levels. Niche also praised Benton High’s teachers and athletics department.
