An upscale 55+ golf club community surrounded by subdivisions
Claremont is a residential neighborhood centered around the 55-plus Claremont Golf Club community. Located in the north Beaverton suburbs, residents enjoy easy access to a variety of nearby shopping and dining, along with well-maintained green spaces. “It’s basically a bunch of really nice, modern houses in a great location — what more could you want?” asks Mary Kay Wilson, the principal broker and owner of the Claremont Realty Group, and a 30-year area resident. “It’s easy to get to central Beaverton, it’s easy to get to Forest Park, and there are tons of walkable parks and restaurants. It really has everything.”

Modern housing on and off the golf course
Claremont’s housing inventory is made up entirely of modern homes, most of which can be classed as new traditional, style-wise. Housing in the 55-plus Claremont Golf Club community is made up of a mix of townhouses and single-family homes, while the surrounding communities mostly feature 2-story single-family homes. “People living in the retirement golf club community could probably get by without a car,” says Wilson. “There’s the golf course, there’s a gym, a pool, community events — really everything you could want. And you can walk the Bronson Creek Greenway or Bethany Village.” As one might expect, properties on the golf course tend to back up onto the golf course, while outlying homes generally feature garages, well-maintained yards and modest backyards. Single-family homes usually sell for between $600,000 and $1.1 million, while townhouses go for $600,000 to $700,000. HOAs are de rigeur in this part of Bethany, with monthly fees ranging from a little over $100 to just under $900.

The golf club and other local green spaces
The Claremont Golf Club, the neighborhood’s namesake, plays a major role in the local recreation scene. The public, 9-hole, par 36 course is open year-round, and a significant fraction of neighborhood residents spend a significant fraction of their leisure time on its greens. There are also several local parks in and around the neighborhood maintained by Tualatin Hills Parks and Recreation. John Marty Park, just west of the golf courses, features mixed-use trails and a playground. Additional hiking trails are scattered liberally around Bethany. And it’s just a 3-mile drive from Claremont to the nearest trailheads in the 5,200-acre Forest Park natural area.
