A small, peaceful community not far from St. Louis

Nestled in the rolling hills of the Ozarks is Beverly Hills, a northwestern suburb of St. Louis. As a city of 457 people, this community offers the tranquility of suburban living while still being within proximity to all the amenities of the city. “It’s a great place to live,” says Realtor and local Ricky Hopkins. “You can see that the residents take pride in their community. It’s also surrounded by other larger neighborhoods, so it’s embedded. It doesn’t get the exposure of the larger communities, so there’s less traffic and movement. It’s peaceful.”

Brick cottages and other charming homes line the streets

The 58 acres of Beverly Hills form a triangle along Natural Bridge Road and Edison Avenue, with its vertex at Avondale Avenue. Oak trees line the narrow sidewalks in front of uniform red and white brick homes with characteristic turn-of-the-century-charm. The front yards are compact, with room for a tree or two and some decorative shrubbery, while the backyards tend to be larger, with enough space for a garden and an accompanying garden shed. Though many homes do not have garages or carports, residents will find ample street parking along the narrow roads. The home styles are Craftsman, Cape Cod, and bungalow. Prices range from $80,000 to $150,000 for turnkey homes, with the average price hovering around $100,000. There are also a variety of fixer-uppers with potential for a more affordable price, ranging from $50,000 to $80,000.
