Peaceful streets and Yellowstone River access in Blue Creek
Just south of the scenic Yellowstone River, Blue Creek offers secluded, winding roads and seemingly endless outdoor recreation. Around 6 miles from downtown Billings, the community has spacious lots and views of the area’s rolling hills, while city amenities are still within reach.
A diverse market, from riverside properties to manufactured homes
“Blue Creek is an expansive community that encompasses a diverse variety of homes,” says Boyd Charter, a real estate agent with Billings Real Estate Professionals who was born and raised in Billings. “You have smaller starter homes along with beautiful riverside properties.” Manufactured homes can be found in the Meadowlark subdivision, while the nearby communities along Quanta and Shasta lanes feature bi-level and ranch-style architecture, many sitting on spacious lots dotted with mature trees. Houses on Old Blue Creek Road feature views of the river and the surrounding rolling hills. Homes in Blue Creek rarely come on the market. According to a Homes.com calculation, which uses a combination of estimation data, the average home value in the neighborhood was about $430,000 in late 2025.
Nearby recreation areas and historic sites
Anglers and boaters can launch off or cast a line from the Blue Creek Boat & Fishing Access site. Next door, the Blue Creek Bike Park has a pump track, jumps and a picnic pavilion. Just north of the community, the 40-acre Riverfront Park has picnic shelters, 7 miles of trails and access to both the Yellowstone River and Lake Josephine. Pictograph Cave State Park is a historic site with a loop trail that winds past rock walls with over 100 paintings dating back 2,000 years. Heading south on Blue Creek Road can take locals to the private Briarwood Country Club, which has an outdoor pool, pickleball courts and an 18-hole golf course. The club is also home to the Black Bunker Bar & Grill, which serves steakhouse and pub fare.
Shopping and dining across the river
Apart from a gas station and a few small businesses, Blue Creek is largely residential. Drivers can cross the Yellowstone River into southwest Billings for the nearest restaurants. Maple Moose Coffee & Pop Shop offers coffee, hand-scooped ice cream and specialty, made-to-order sodas. On Southgate Drive, 4B’s Restaurant is an old-school diner offering brunch, burgers and seafood. Yellowstone Cellars & Winery has over a dozen wines to choose from, along with charcuterie and small plates, and hosts regular live music and events, from cookie decorating classes to painting workshops. For groceries, both Sam’s Club and Walmart are a short drive away. More businesses can be found around 6 miles away in downtown Billings.
Career-based classes and dual enrollment at Billings Senior High
Local kindergarten through sixth-grade students can attend Blue Creek School, which earns a C grade from Niche. Also with a C rating, Riverside Middle School has a variety of clubs, with topics ranging from art and reading to chess and math.
