Pandapas, a prominent industry businessman who played a significant role in developing the town of Blacksburg. Since its establishment, Airport Acres has seen the construction of an elementary school, a shopping center, and many more residential properties. The neighborhood’s name comes from the adjacent Virginia Tech Montgomery Executive Airport, a public airfield often used for corporate travel and college sporting events. Bordering Airport Acres is Main Street, or Business Route 460, which goes north into the Downtown Blacksburg area right next to the Virginia Tech campus.

First & Main is a popular shopping, dining and entertainment destination located in Airport Acres. “First & Main is designed so you have freestanding stores,” says Nancy Phillips, a Blacksburg resident and real estate agent with Coldwell Banker Townside Realtors. Within the shopping center is B&B Theatres, where locals can watch movie screenings, go bowling at B-Roll Bowling, play games at the Outtakes Arcade or sit down at McClain’s restaurant for a meal. Phillips recommends two other First & Main dining spots: “Avellino’s if you like Italian, El Rodeo if you like Mexican,” she says. “I would also personally recommend Lefty’s, which is farther on up Main Street – it’s got something for everyone. And right across the street from that is a bakery called Our Daily Bread, where they also serve lunch and dinner in addition to selling pastries.” Airport Acres is also home to two supermarkets: Kroger and Oasis World Market, an international grocery store in the Blacksburg Square shopping mall next to Our Daily Bread.

We have four true seasons and not a ton of high humidity, even in the summer.” The neighborhood is also home to two indoor gyms: Blacksburg Boxing & Fitness and Anytime Fitness, which is located in the First & Main shopping center. Approximately 4 miles east of Airport Acres is the Blacksburg Country Club, which features an 18-hole golf course, a heated swimming pool and several racquetball athletic courts across 175 acres of land.
