Suburb in western Blacksburg
Situated between the Jefferson National Forest and Virginia Tech campus, Glade-Westover is a residential suburb ideal for those who want to enjoy both the local natural areas and the convenience of Blacksburg’s urban amenities. Running through the neighborhood is the Route 460 Bypass, a major local thoroughfare; the farther west they go from the bypass, the more farmland and pastoral topography residents can find. Almost directly east of the bypass are Virginia Tech and the University Mall Shopping Center. Although there are a handful of apartment complexes closer to campus where students live, much of the neighborhood is home to families and non-student residents: “If you go off the bus routes and into the neighborhoods with busses, you’ll find a lot of locals,” says Amy Hudson, a broker/owner with RE/MAX 8 and Blacksburg resident. “Most of the students like to be along the bus route.” Glade-Westover also has several houses of worship, including Glade Church, Unitarian Universalist Congregation and Grace Covenant Presbyterian.
