The Huckleberry Trail’s pedestrian-only pathways run all the way through Blacksburg and travel south into the nearby town of Christiansburg. Nancy Phillips, a local real estate agent with Coldwell Banker Townside Realtors, says that one of the best perks of Blacksburg is that the weather allows residents to enjoy the outdoors year-round: “We have four true seasons, and we don’t get a lot of humidity, even in the summer,” she says. “We’re in the mountains, and it’s a breezy area, so everything cools down at night.” Less than 1 mile north of Miller Southside is the sprawling Virginia Tech campus, which offers a number of outdoor spaces for the community. “On most Friday nights in the summer, there’s a live band Downtown next to campus, and people can just spring a picnic right there on Henderson Lawn,” Phillips says.
