Bon Air offers a blend of historic homes, condominiums and new construction. “It’s more of an eclectic collection of homes,” Hester says. “You’ve got your old Victorians on Burford Road that date back to the 19th century, the post-war ranchers and Cape Cods and the split levels built in the 1970s to 1990s.” With a variety of floor plans and price points, Bon Air is an attractive choice for those wanting a quieter lifestyle without sacrificing access to the city. Some residents in the area rent and apartment complexes accommodate them. The Bon Air Historical Society helps this tight-knit community stay connected to its rich past by preserving landmarks, such as the Bon Air Hotel Annex, built in 1881 for resort visitors and now repurposed as an apartment building. James River High's leadership program
Bon Air is zoned for Chesterfield County Public Schools. Bon Air is located near many commercial areas. Local restaurants sit at the intersection of Buford Road and Forest Hill Avenue. Joe’s Inn Bon Air, a second location of Richmond’s popular restaurant in The Fan, serves sandwiches to local patrons, while Genova’s Pizza Station is a go-to for takeout. Nearby Coco + Hazel pours lattes in the morning and scoops ice cream in the evening. There’s also a Trader Joe’s grocery store at the Stony Point Shopping Center, which is just outside of Bon Air. Chesterfield Towne Center, an indoor mall with a variety of retailers, is about 4 miles away. The mall is surrounded by big-box stores like Target and Walmart, as well as fast casual eateries.

Travel back in time to the Victorian Days Parade and Festival
GrowRVA sponsors weekly farmers markets, where local artisans sell handmade goods alongside homegrown produce. Fresh fruits and vegetables can be found Saturdays at the South of the James Market and Thursdays at Huguenot-Robious Farmers Market at The Great Big Greenhouse on Huguenot Road.Every spring, locals line Buford Road for the Victorian Days Parade and Festival. The celebrations pay tribute to Bon Air's rich history. And for more than 100 years, children of all ages have flocked to the Chesterfield County Fair in late August for the pageants, parades, horse shows, livestock competitions and concerts.

Getting around Bon Air
Bon Air borders major roadways like Midlothian Turnpike, Powhite Parkway and Huguenot Road. It is also near some of the region's major highways, such as Interstate 95, Interstate 64 and Route 288. Public transportation is available, with buses running every hour into the city.
