Urban living in Commonwealth
Stretching between Cleveland Circle and Packard’s Corner, Commonwealth is a lively area that connects Boston College to Boston University. In one of the most accessible neighborhoods in the city, locals enjoy direct access to T stations, lively restaurants and bars that dot Comm Ave (short for Commonwealth Avenue) and condominiums preferred by young professionals. “Comm Ave is the main thoroughfare of Boston. It’s an area that is heavily influenced by the academics and it’s also home to tech companies and startups,” says Matthew Foley, a Boston resident and Realtor at Compass with 16 years of experience. Another real estate professional, Vera Prestly at Rise Realty, says, “Commonwealth is densely populated with college students, and it caters to a younger crowd. The Green Line and the 66 bus go through there, and there are lots of investors interested in the neighborhood because units here are almost always in demand.”
Commonwealth is the perfect town for those who like the busy lifestyle without the city hustle.

Condos in iconic mid-rises and triple-decker buildings
Brick condominium mid-rises dot the neighborhood. “You’ll see many larger brick buildings that are prewar mid-rises; these buildings are massive and have many units on a single level,” Foley says. Condo units start around $300,000 for a 400-square-foot studio, and may go up to $800,000 for a two-bedroom. “Compared to nearby Boston neighborhoods, the Brighton-Allston area in general is a cheaper place to live,” says Franklin Knotts, a Realtor at Coldwell Banker Realty – Boston with 37 years of experience. “Cleveland Circle is cool because people can walk and jog around the reservoir, and you’ll see more multi-family there.” Around Cleveland Circle, units that offer views of the Chestnut Hill Reservoir can fetch between $1 million and over $2 million. One-bedrooms in multi-unit Queen Annes and New England-style houses are around $500,000, while multi-family houses usually go over $1.5 million.
