The village of Newton Highlands has custom contemporary homes, a small downtown district and several Green Line T stops. Renovated 19th-century Victorian structures and brand-new modern houses sit behind front lawn gardens with overgrown bushes. A paved multipurpose trail exists for walking and biking. A walkable shopping district features boutiques and Mediterranean eateries operating from the first floor of 1800s rowhouses. Newton Highlands is an idyllic New England suburban neighborhood 10 minutes outside downtown Boston. “Newton is a great town to live in,” says Ryan McCormick, manager at Metro Realty Corp. in nearby Brookline. “It’s very family-oriented with good schools. That’s a lot of the appeal. It’s also close to the city and more affordable than Brookline.”
There are many shops along Lincoln Street for people to browse.
Beautifully maintained Victorians can be found all throughout Newton Highlands.

People get their hair done at the village salons, buy blazers and hand lotions at its boutiques and end the day with a cocktail at Buttonwood or a pizza from 57 Lincoln Kitchen. With its brick exterior, long glass panel windows and wooden bar, O’Hara’s Food & Spirits looks like a British pub. It’s an Irish bar serving steak, mashed potatoes and freshly poured Guinness.

Prices range from $879,000 to more than $4 million. “It has easy access to the highway. You can get on and off the Pike pretty easily,” says McCormick.

I think this area is very safe, and you feel that around the neighborhood. But there are sometimes suspicious characters that may make it feel a little less safe
