Highways, parks and shopping centers are a quick drive away from Grovehurst
Bordered by forestland to the west and Central Avenue to the south, Grovehurst is an entirely residential pocket in south Bowie. Locals have to drive to shopping centers like Bowie Town Center and recreation spaces like Six Flags America and Watkins Regional Park. But the distance to these places doesn’t diminish the neighborhood's convenience, according to residents. “Bowie is a commuter city, so there’s always some sort of highway or public transportation option nearby,” says Floretta Davis, a Realtor with Samson Properties and a Bowie local. Commuters will find bus stops along Central Avenue, which links with other thoroughfares, making Washington, D.C., a 20-mile drive west. U.S. Route 301, which leads to Baltimore, is just 3 miles east of the neighborhood.
