Gate security and walkable amenities in Canyon Trails
In West Boynton's master-planned area of Canyon Trails, residents enjoy the peace of mind of gated communities and the convenience of walkable amenities. Palm Beach County schools, restaurants and Publix are all clustered just north of the residential subdivisions. The neighborhood has a low CAP Index crime score of one out of 10, compared to the national average of four. "I've raised my kids here and I have no problem with them going out in the community, going out on their own and playing with friends and coming home when the lights come on," says Realtor Robert Gleichenhaus, who partners with his wife Rachel at Signature International Premier Properties. Developed between 2005 and 2015 by G.L. Homes, the area mirrors many of West Boynton's tropical and manicured planned communities.

Four subdivisions with Mediterannean-style homes and amenities
The Canyon Trails, Canyon Springs, Canyon Isles and Canyon Lakes subdivisions are part of this area, each with clubhouses, amenities and around 500 single-family homes. With various home sizes, prices range from about $650,000 to $2 million. Homes are typically three to six bedrooms with Mediterranean exteriors featuring terra cotta roofs, paver driveways and two- or three-car garages. They're often located close together on smaller lots, but backyards have enough room for private pools. Manicured shrubbery, short-cut lawns and palm trees add curb appeal to front yards. "Everyone in the community handles the landscaping on their own, but the HOAs take care of the communal areas, so it always looks well kept," says Gleichenhaus, who lives in the Springs and has called Boynton home for nearly 20 years. HOA fees factor into monthly costs, usually between $300 and $500.

Highly-rated Palm Beach County schools
Many kids walk, bike or scooter to school since they're nearby, according to Gleichenhaus. Younger students can attend Sunset Palms Elementary School, earning an A-minus from Niche, and West Boynton Middle School, which opened in 2023 and doesn't yet have a Niche rating. The new school has raised classroom seating for better visibility, as well as pre-information technology and pre-medical programs. Teens can continue those programs at the A-rated Park Vista Community High School. Other high school offerings include automotive service technology, digital media, entrepreneurship and television and film production.
Neighborhood amenities for work and play
Clubhouses in each subdivision make it easy for residents to work near home, according to Gleichenhaus. They typically have fitness centers, aerobics rooms and meeting rooms. Outside are playgrounds, pools with splash pads for kids, covered picnic cabanas and racquet courts. The HOAs host social events and entertainment at the amenity centers, such as food truck nights, Fourth of July parties, Santa appearances in December and end-of-the-school-year celebrations with snow cones. The new 50-acre Canyon District Park features a mile-long fitness course, multipurpose fields and picnic shelters.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
