Lakefront subdivision between forested streets
South of Seabeck, forested streets lead to the entrance of Fort William Symington’s lakefront subdivision. Removed from the major port cities, the neighborhood has a slower pace, with nature and recreation spread evenly between the Hood Canal to the west and Dyes Inlet to the east. “It’s rural but real close to Silverdale for commercial access. It’s also located north of the shipyard, which makes commuting a piece of cake since over 1,000 employees at the shipyard are traveling up from the south everyday,” says Greg Oldham, a broker with Skyline Properties who has over 20 years of experience.

Parks divided by division surround Lake Symington
Lake (William) Symington sits in the subdivision’s center and is fed by Big Beef Creek. Since the lake is not restocked with fish, those licensed to fish are required to catch and release. Kayaking and paddleboarding are also permitted, but motorized boats are not. Green spaces in the area are divided. Lake Symington Park’s playground is accessible to the public, primarily for those of Divisions One to Four and Six. Division Five’s open space is reserved for residents of the community.
The subdivision’s parks transform into an event space during the summer for Fourth of July fireworks and the Movies in the Park series. To the east, hikers and bikers rise to the challenge of Wildcat Trail’s steep slope that is part of Green Mountain State Forest’s over 16 miles of trails. The forests lead to Wildcat Lake County Park’s 11 acres, which has picnic shelters, a playground and a lake that Oldham says has some of the best fishing in the area.
