Waterfront and creekside living around Lake Symington
Streets curve around Lake Symington and are lined with two- and three-bedroom homes built between the 1970s and early 2000s. Architectural styles range from ranch-style homes to split-level and contemporary, painted in muted, earthy tones with attached garages. Homes further away from the lake and creek list roughly between $300,000 and $480,000, while those with greater proximity list between $450,000 and $770,000. The homeowners association's annual due is $50, which covers the upkeep cost of community amenities, such as the park and beach landscaping, contracted out by the Lake Symington Community Club.Parks divided by division surround Lake Symington
Lake (William) Symington sits in the subdivision’s center and is fed by Big Beef Creek. Since the lake is not restocked with fish, those licensed to fish are required to catch and release. Kayaking and paddleboarding are also permitted, but motorized boats are not. Green spaces in the area are divided. Lake Symington Park’s playground is accessible to the public, primarily for those of Divisions One to Four and Six. Division Five’s open space is reserved for residents of the community. The subdivision’s parks transform into an event space during the summer for Fourth of July fireworks and the Movies in the Park series. To the east, hikers and bikers rise to the challenge of Wildcat Trail’s steep slope that is part of Green Mountain State Forest’s over 16 miles of trails. The forests lead to Wildcat Lake County Park’s 11 acres, which has picnic shelters, a playground and a lake that Oldham says has some of the best fishing in the area.
Secondary school studies and college credit opportunities
Central Kitsap School District serves the community, which includes Green Mountain Elementary School and Klahowya Secondary School, a sixth through 12th grade school, both of which earn a B grade from Niche. The latter allows students to enroll in Career and Technical Education (CTE) courses offered through a partnership with the West Sound Technical Skills Center and offers Dual Credit classes through Olympic College and Advanced Placement (AP) curriculum to prepare for college.Routes around Holly Road and to Silverdale
Seabeck Holly Road NW runs north along the neighborhood’s western side toward Seabeck, where it diverts east, linking the community with Silverdale’s shops and businesses. Northwest Holly Road also leads to Silverdale and the county-wide thoroughfare Washington state Route 3. This road runs east, connecting the community to outdoor recreation at places like Wildcat Trailhead and Kitsap Lake. Bremerton’s downtown district, with a ferry to Seattle and Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, is a 12-mile drive southeast along Seabeck Highway NW.Convenience, Camp Union Saloon and grocery shopping
Camp Union Grocery, a convenience store, and Camp Union Saloon are just outside the subdivision’s entrance along NW Holly Road. Shopping centers 9 miles east around Kitsap Lake have additional options, such as Big Apple Diner, with a retro atmosphere, colorful checkered floors and booth seating and Ralph’s Red Apple Market, a local grocer.
