Upscale suburban living in the outskirts of the East Bay
Surrounded by golf courses and country clubs, Deer Ridge/Marsh Creek is a suburban East Bay community where residents are ensconced by luxury living, new homes, highly rated schools and the green foothills of the Mount Diablo Mountain range. “I’ve probably sold more homes than anyone in Deer Ridge, and I can say without a doubt that schools are the number one reason people are moving here,” says Realtor Jeff Kenney of JDK & Associates Realty, who lives in Deer Ridge. The neighborhood is situated at the southern edge of Brentwood, bordered by wide-open green space on one side and sprawling cherry orchards and farmland on the other. It’s about 55 miles from San Francisco and 74 miles from Sacramento.

Country clubs, horse farms and golf courses galore
Upscale and luxury amenities are the hallmarks of this neighborhood. Club Los Meganos, the centerpiece of the Marsh Creek subdivision, is a massive luxury resort with a pool, spa, a gym and restaurant. It’s a popular place in the neighborhood for socializing, dining and weddings. Across the street, golfers can book a tee time at the Brentwood Golf Course or head north to Shadow Lakes Club. East of the neighborhood is the greater Marsh Creek community where horse farms, orchards and agriculture begin and the suburbs end. “There are a lot of horse farms and horse trails out in Marsh Creek. One time I was getting McDonald’s out there, and I was in the drive-thru, and when I turned the corner there was someone on a horse at the pick-up window,” Kenney says.

Several dog-friendly parks — Pupperino’s Park and Puppotron’s Field — are a great spot to let the dogs run around off-leash. Hiking opportunities are plentiful here. The neighborhood backs up to Marsh Creek State Historic Park and Round Valley Regional Preserve, both of which offer trails that wind across the Mount Diablo foothills.
