Hilly Brisbane residential hub along the southern edge of San Francisco
Situated in the northern part of Brisbane and on the southern edge of San Francisco, Bayshore has long served as an entrance corridor to the city, welcoming travelers after driving past San Bruno Mountain and on up to the peninsula. Though not as recognizable as other San Francisco neighborhoods, as Bayshore sits further out from the interstate, the community is home to many longstanding and proud local residents. “It’s a country little town where you literally wave to just about everybody, and there are a lot of people who have been in the area for 50 or 60 years,” says Kathy Wall, a Brisbane resident and local realtor at INTERO Real Estate Services. “I’ve been in this city for 20 years, and that’s considered new, but there are still newer people now moving in all around Brisbane.” While there’s no significant waterfront recreation in the neighborhood, as the Route 101 Bayshore Freeway courses along the bay, Bayshore residents are still only minutes away from scenic trails, the city’s quaint downtown and other prominent community amenities. “It’s close to the Brisbane marina, which is really beautiful and there are sand volleyball courts in the neighborhood and tons of mountain hiking trails,” Wall says. “It’s also near Brisbane’s wonderful community pool, which everyone from everywhere comes to enjoy.”
Bayshore is a flat valley surrounded by San Bruno Mountain State Park.

Mountainside housing and contemporary architecture
Along the slopes of San Bruno, Bayshore features wide and gently curving streetscapes with expansive hillscape views. Nicely paved sidewalks guide along the subdivisions, offering residents a safe pathway for walking or biking around the neighborhood. Most single-family properties are decently spaced out from one another along the neighborhood’s roomy streets, providing more privacy and exterior room to grow. Some subdivisions, like the popular Landmark community, feature the largest estate-style homes in the neighborhood which reside on extended lot spaces. Within Bayshore’s housing landscape, residents will find a mix of single-family homes, condos and townhouses. The most common housing architecture includes contemporary and craftsman styles. Condos typically go from $700,000 to $1 million for two or more bedrooms, while townhouses and single-family home prices range from around $1 million to $2 million dollars.
Developments along the outer hills of Bayshore are very in style and were built in the 2000s.
Newer developments in Bayshore include large arts and crafts homes.

Longstanding authentic eats and neighborhood markets
The Bayshore neighborhood is near many dining favorites and local businesses. Located within the neighborhood, residents can enjoy drinks the way generations ago did at the 7 Mile House on Bayshore Boulevard. This longstanding restaurant originally opened in 1858 as a toll gate before evolving into a pub that survived the city’s devastating 1906 earthquake and Prohibition-era law enforcement raids. Around the corner from the 7 Mile House, several fast-food franchises and local family businesses line Geneva Avenue, one of the community’s main commercial thoroughfares. Here, locals can also pick up essentials from corner stores like the Bayshore Market or Sun Valley Dairy. One mile north is Bayside Café, situated at the northern tip of Little Hollywood, offering classic American fare with Mexican influences in a cozy diner-style spot for breakfast and lunch. For additional grocery options, the large Grocery Outlet is located nearby along Bayshore Boulevard.

Bayshore residents can enjoy a variety of events less than two miles away in downtown Brisbane. Brisbane Community Park is also home to many other annual events, including a summer concert series on Fridays and Sundays in July and August. Brisbane’s Day in the Park and Derby is the most widely attended annual community event at this recreational site. Residents join together to participate in family-friendly derby races while listening to live music, sampling local food and checking out local vendor tents.
