Mount Hope offers historic charm at a high elevation

The neighborhood of Mount Hope is the highest point in Bristol County, a place typically known for sea-level lifestyles. But there’s more than interesting geography here: Mount Hope is also full of history, and plenty of entertainment to be had with downtown Bristol to the west. Plus, there’s a strong academic streak to the community. “You’ve got Roger Williams University bordering Mount Hope to the south, so the college is integrated with the fabric of the neighborhood,” says Stefanie Carr, a Realtor with Lila Delman Compass. Mount Hope is a peaceful suburb for people who crave a dash of history and community.

Housing ranges from older Cape Cods to 21st-century builds

When it comes to housing, a diverse range of styles is available, with prices starting around $600,000. Much of the inventory feels quintessentially New England, with midcentury Cape Cods being a standout example. Some of these will have renovated interiors, but comparatively large lots are the norm – yards can easily be more than a quarter-acre, dotted with mature trees. Homes built during the 2000s fall in the $800,000 range, including, for example, a four-bedroom ranch that sprawls across 2,500 square feet on a 2-acre lot. Some of these properties also feature views of Mount Hope Bay.
