Waterside Bronx neighborhood that celebrates its diversity
Castle Hill is a residential neighborhood in the southeast section of the Bronx known for its close communities and convenient highway access to Manhattan. Situated along the banks of Westchester Creek, pockets of Castle Hill deliver views of the East River. The neighborhood has attracted diverse communities of immigrants from areas like Bangladesh and Pakistan, reflected in the vibrant eateries and houses of worship, including churches and mosques, found along Castle Hill Avenue. “It’s a melting pot of people,” says Marithza Mcfadden, a Bronx native and agent with Keller Williams Realty NYC Group. As with other areas of the Bronx, families try to live close to one another and properties are often passed to relatives. “The Bronx is pretty much people saying, ‘I want to stay close to my family.’ So, they’ll pass on the house to someone that’s in the family,” Mcfadden says.

The Castle Hill Houses include 27 low and mid-rise brick buildings that are part of NYCHA, between Lacombe and Seward Avenues.
