An urban residential neighborhood between Yankee Stadium and a former aqueduct
Located on the Harlem River directly north of Yankee Stadium, the Bronx neighborhood of Highbridge is predominantly residential. The area takes its name from The High Bridge, a 19th-century bridge built as part of the Croton Aqueduct. On the Manhattan side, the structure connects to Washington Heights and High Bridge Park, a vast green space with various facilities. “This community is parks country,” says Deborah Miller, an associate real estate salesperson with Brown Harris Stevens who has worked in the Bronx for over a decade. In addition to being home to the oldest bridge in New York City, High Bridge garnered attention after a steep set of stairs was featured in an iconic scene of the Joaquin Phoenix film “Joker.” Thanks to a community art project, the formerly patinaed locale now features a colorful floral mural.
The Yankee Stadium south of Highbridge has become a highly attractive destination.
High Bridge Park is rather unique in that it connects High Bridge and Northern Manhattan.

Mid-rise co-ops, colonial homes and brick townhouses
Mid-rise 1920s buildings with Art Deco touches mix with one- and two-family colonials and contemporary brick low-rise properties. It’s a neighborhood of renters, with just 5% of residents owning their home. The majority of homes in Highbridge are co-ops, listing for about $100,000 to $200,000. Many have income restrictions. Detached colonial single- or two-family homes and brick townhouses ask $450,000 to $900,000 and muiltifamilies with three or more apartments are priced at $1 million and up.
Many choose to live in co-op units in Highbridge, which sell between $100,000 to $200,000.

Dominican food, small businesses and a major retail center
Jerome Avenue on the neighborhood’s eastern edge is the major commercial strip. El Caldero serves affordable and celebrated Dominican food, and Don Sazon is a popular all-day spot for tacos, mofongo and more. LateMunch offers inspired comfort food with creative flair. The neighborhood has two Fine Fare Supermarkets and a large Food Bazaar for grocery shopping. In addition to the many small businesses that operate here, the mall-like Bronx Terminal Market, directly south in Concourse, is home to big box stores such as Target and Home Depot. Residents also have easy access to the Manhattan scene. "Once you cross the bridge, you land in restaurants," says Monica Cappelan, a Realtor with Sotheby's International. The Fort George neighborhood in particular is known for Dominican cuisine, juice bars and a food hall with multiple vendors.

A major park over the bridge, another to the south, and small green spaces in between
The High Bridge itself connects the neighborhood to a namesake park spanning 103 acres along the Harlem River in Manhattan. In addition to a natural forest and hiking trails, the park contains numerous playgrounds, a skate park, an Olympic-sized pool and rec center. At the neighborhood’s eastern edge, the sizable Reverend T. Wendell Foster Park contains soccer and baseball fields, playgrounds and a pool. Bridge Playground is a small but inspired playscape, and Nelson Playground offers ball courts, a splash pad and play equipment. The Bronx Museum of the Arts is in nearby Concourse.

I have no specific feelings towards Highbridge. Everything is tightknit so it makes things convenient but sometimes the people can be ignorant have no respect for other. Though at the same time it is New York City.

I would like to see more police activity to make it more quiet at night. Subways and bus systems are easily accessible. The streets and sideways need to be repaved. The neighborhood is becoming gentrified.
