Palmer Lake is a community less than 15 miles north of Minneapolis with quiet cul-de-sacs and nearby parks, located in the southern region of Brooklyn Park, which meets the Mississippi River to the east. “Brooklyn Park is known for parks, a couple of recreational areas and lots of bike trails. It’s a very active community,” says Tom Walters, a local Realtor at Edina Realty’s The Walters Group, who has over 40 years of experience.

The Osseo Area Schools district serves Western Palmer Lake. Palmer Lake Elementary School and Brooklyn Middle STEAM School both score C-pluses from Niche. Park Center Senior High School earns a B-minus.
Jackson Middle School serves students in grades 6 through 8.

Trail access, parks by a nature preserve and a neighborhood playground
Meadowwood Park has a playground and benches overlooking an open space. “Palmer Lake is a nice nature area with lots of walking trails,” says Jon Perkins, a Realtor with RE/MAX who has over 40 years of experience and used to live nearby. “It’s got large ponds and wooded trails, all kinds of playground equipment and tennis courts.” The Palmer Lake Environmental Nature Area is the largest nature preserve in the city, spanning nearly 200 acres. It sits between Palmer Lake Park, to the east, and West Palmer Park, which are connected via the Shingle Creek Regional Trail, a paved loop around the preserve’s marshes and wetlands totaling over 3 miles. West Palmer Lake’s nature-themed playground with a zipline is adjacent to baseball fields and tennis courts. Palmer Lake Park also has baseball fields in addition to its futuristic-themed playground and basketball court.
Kids enjoy the large play structure at Meadowwood Park.
Walkers, bikers, and skateboarders use the paved Shingle Creek Regional Trail around the Palmer Lake Environmental Nature Area.

National retailers and Edinburgh Festival Centre’s local restaurants
The shopping center of Edinburgh Festival Centre has a Festival Foods and Golden Lion Supermarket, a locally owned market with ingredients from Asian countries. “We’ve got a lot of the chain restaurants in Brooklyn Park, and it has a tremendous number of small restaurants and international restaurants,” Perkins says. Nearby restaurants include the Fat Nat’s Eggs diner, where breakfast foods and sandwiches are served until the afternoon. The café Mi-Sant is also close by, and it gets its name from banh mi and croissants, both of which are menu features. Within a 5-mile drive of Palmer Lake, Shingle Creek Crossing shopping mall has national retailers, such as T.J. Maxx.
Mi-Sant is a casual restaurant serving Vietnamese banh mi sandwiches, desserts, and bubble tea near Palmer Lake.
Palmer Lake residents can pick up groceries at Festival Foods in Edinburgh Festival Centre.

Driving and riding Metro Transit buses around Palmer Lake
Local thoroughfares, including Brookdale Drive and Humboldt Avenue, have Metro Transit bus stops. Brookdale Drive runs west and east, intersecting Highway 252, a road to Interstate 94. Minneapolis is about a 10-mile drive, and the Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport is approximately 25 miles away.
The Palmer Lake neighborhood features direct access to major highways and interstates.
