It offers tennis courts with pickleball lines, a playground, a basketball court and a pool open each summer. Downtown Brunswick is about 5 miles away, and proximity to its growing social scene is a perk for many. The historic neighborhood offers locally owned restaurants, shops and regular events, like First Fridays, which takes place the first Friday of each month, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. “It’s really popular. They block off the streets, there are food trucks, and bands play,” Harris says. “Everybody goes down there and hangs out.” Blessing of the Fleet is another popular annual event that takes place each May and involves the blessing of the local shrimp boats as they head out for the shrimping season.I-95 nearby, Brunswick Golden Isles Airport offers flights to Atlanta
Route 17 runs through the neighborhood and travels south into Brunswick and north to New Hope. It also connects to the FJ Causeway, which travels onto St. Simons Island, and the Jekyll Island Causeway, which connects to Jekyll Island. Savannah and Jacksonville Florida are about 75 miles away, accessible by nearby Interstate 95, a perk many residents enjoy. "You can see Broadway shows in Jacksonville, and Savannah is a great place to spend the day because it's so historic," Harris says. Most residents fly out of Savannah’s or Jacksonville’s international airports, but some opt to fly from Brunswick Golden Isles Airport, located just outside the neighborhood, which connects to Atlanta and then anywhere in the world they need to go.
