Many schools in the area feed into Stevenson High
The elementary and middle schools in this part of the Chicago suburbs are separate districts from the high school. Students attend either the Kildeer or the Aptakisic-Tripp School District. Both have highly rated schools. Niche gives Prairie Elementary School an A rating. Tripp School is also A-rated. Twin Groves Middle receives an A, and Aptakisic Junior High School gets an A-minus. Adlai E. Stevenson High School gets an A-plus and is rated the 6th best public high school in Illinois. Students can take various levels of web and video game development courses as part of the Computer Science, Engineering and Technology Division. The school has a 97% average graduation rate.Single-family, townhouse and condos in Woodlands of Fiore
Single-family homes dominate the housing stock in the Woodlands of Fiore, but townhouse and condo options exist. Sidewalks line the winding, tree-lined streets and cul-de-sacs. The oldest houses were constructed in the late 1980s and early 1990s and are mainly contemporary traditional, Colonial Revival and ranch-style on quarter-acre to half-acre lots priced between $550,000 and $1.1 million. Most homes have manicured lawns, private driveways and attached garages. Townhouses are primarily south of Half Day Road and range from $250,000 to $500,000, while contemporary condos are priced in that same range. Monthly maintenance fees are from $300 to $500. Ninety-two percent of those living here are homeowners, and the CAP crime score index is 1, the lowest possible score and well below the national average of 4.Patio dining at Arboretum Golf Club
Some homes back up to the Arboretum Club, a public 18-hole golf course that opened around the time the neighborhood started in 1990. There is a restaurant inside the clubhouse called Vin 90. “It has a beautiful patio, and my girlfriends and I go there frequently,” Libman says. Woodland Park has tennis and pickleball courts next to Twin Groves Middle School. A sand volleyball court is also part of the 14 acres. Churchill Park has a walking and biking path and a baseball diamond.Korean BBQ and a Pilates gym Woodland Commons
Across from the Arboretum Club is the Woodland Commons Shopping Center, at the intersection of Half Day and Buffalo Grove Roads. Mariano’s and a Marshalls department store cover grocery and retail needs. Buns on Fire specializes in thick burgers with fresh ingredients and bubble tea, and in the same shopping center is Chicago Galbi House, which specializes in Korean barbecue. Patrons can burn off the extra calories by stretching and straining at Club Pilates.Buffalo Grove Farmers Market
From mid-June through mid-October, the Buffalo Grove Farmers Market occurs every Sunday from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Mike Rylko Park in downtown Buffalo Grove, about 3 miles south. Area vendors sell locally grown fruits and vegetables, and area businesses share information about their services. The park is also the site for Buffalo Grove Days, a five-day festival around Labor Day weekend featuring live music, carnival rides and a parade.Prairie View Metra for weekday rides into Chicago
Many residents depend on cars for travel, and the closest Metra station to the neighborhood is at Prairie View, about a mile-and-a-half east. Another station is in Buffalo Grove, about 3 miles away. “The Buffalo Grove Metra is usually the commuter station, so it’s packed during the weekday," Libman says. “Prairie View may be the best option, and it’s closer.” The usual hour ride to Union Station is cut by about 10 to 15 minutes via the express route. The nearest hospital is 4 miles to the north at Northwestern Medicine in Vernon Hills, and the Chicago O'Hare International Airport is around 20 miles south.
