Burien’s Manhattan is a delightful mix of natural beauty, convenience to bustling city life and a serene lifestyle.

This quiet neighborhood near the Puget Sound offers residents incredible views of snowcapped Mount Rainer, a picturesque shoreline and convenient access to parks, beaches, schools and shopping. Manhattan boasts single-family midcentury ranch-style houses, contemporary split-levels and condos. “You see a lot of the original midcentury homes that have been there since the beginning that are getting cool updates but still keeping the midcentury design in place, so that keeps it super popular,” says Angie Hall, Realtor at Windermere Real Estate and Belle Residence team member. “A lot of great little one-levels with daylight basements or true ramblers. There’s a nice variety.” Built in the 1950s and '60s, most homes range from $400,000 to $900,000. Hall says Manhattan is more affordable compared to other areas, like its close neighbor Normandy Park. “You still get a Normandy Park address with it, and your value grows and holds over time.” Residents enjoy fenced-in backyards growing fruit trees, with abundant space for gardening or entertaining. “Manhattan has beautiful landscaping, there are a lot of large lots that are well maintained, and people have a lot of space.” Higher-end homes boast these immaculately landscaped backyards with stone footpaths, covered patios and multi-car garages. The High Point Condos offer a quiet, wooded setting, outdoor pool, tennis court and indoor spa for residents. Residents get an idyllic mix of a serene community and are within walking distance of schools, shopping and bustling city life. And while just minutes from the Seattle Tacoma International Airport, nearby residents aren’t disturbed by any noise.

Students attend North Hill Elementary, Sylvester Middle and Highline Big Picture High School. North Hill received an overall B grade from Niche and A+ for diversity. Highline, which received an overall B- from Niche, offers a student newspaper, student leadership forum and bowling, swim and cross-country teams.

For outdoor fun, you have the four-acre Manhattan Park right inside the neighborhood, which offers a playground, picnic tables and a soccer field. Or visit the five-acre Marvista Park to walk the trails, utilize the community garden or catch a summer concert. There’s also a large playground for the kids to play. The 100 acres of parkland in Normandy Park is just over the boundary line but are regularly used by Manhattan residents as it's within walking distance. The Nature Trails Park here offers a variety of walking trails shaded by a canopy of evergreens. And the Normandy Park Walking Trail Loop interconnects three loops perfect for hiking or biking.

Archie’s Mexican Restaurant is a beloved locally owned eatery within the neighborhood. And just one mile away is Bistro Baffi, a chic Italian restaurant known for its homemade lobster ravioli and lemon gelato. For a truly unique experience from a neighborhood mom and pop, head to Mc. Mike’s Burgers & Bakery. The shop sells pastries, homemade bread and loaded hamburgers. And Hall recommends hidden gem Teak House, a Thai restaurant. “You would drive right by it and never know the difference,” she says. “It’s a go-to.” Manhattan Village Shopping Center is the closest for shopping. Anchored by the supermarket chain QFC, the strip also has a Starbucks, pet store, daycare center and hair salon. This shopping center also hosts an annual winter festival and Halloween festivities. Just 2 miles outside Manhattan lies historic Olde Burien, which offers mom-and-pop shops, restaurants and a farmer’s market.

Burien Community Center is under 2 miles away and offers a wide variety of services for residents, including inexpensive fitness classes, a free lunch program called Transform Burien, event rental space and a regular soup fundraiser to help the local food bank.

Stunning views, community and abundant outdoor fun await in Manhattan.
