A popular landing spot with plenty of open land

Stationed near the northern border of Northampton County, Bushkill Township serves as a popular landing spot sandwiched between Wind Gap and Nazareth. Known for its strong nearby schools and proximity to outdoor adventures, it's hardly surprising that Bushkill Township is experiencing an uptick in population. "A lot of people come in from New Jersey or New York, and we've especially seen that in the past couple years," says local Realtor Tracy Ziemba of Berkshire Hathaway Fox & Roach Realtors, who lived in the township for several years. "People will sell their high-priced home in New York and move over to Pennsylvania in Bushkill Township because they have land and space, and you can get more home for your money."

Split-levels and homes with colonial accents sit on large lots

Bushkill Township offers a wide range of home styles and architectural frameworks from split-levels and ranch-style dwellings to larger properties with colonial accents on huge, sprawling lots. A smaller 1,000-square-foot home can price between $100,000 and $300,000 while properties with five bedrooms may range from $400,000 to upwards of $1 million. The housing market in Bushkill is competitive, mainly because of the strong schools in the area and the large lot sizes. "There's kind of a township rule in Bushkill that homes need to be on an acre or more of land, so everyone has more space to spread out," Ziemba says. "Typically what I see happening is people will move to Nazareth for the school district, and when their kids get a little bit older, they go to Bushkill Township so they can have a little bit more space." According to Ziemba, homes in Bushkill Township usually tend to sell quicker than the national average.

Guitars, golf, and the great outdoors

Bushkill Township is a haven for lovers of the great outdoors. On the neighborhood's east side is Jacobsburg Environmental Education Center — a 1,168-acre region popular among hikers, mountain bikers and wildlife watchers. For something a little more challenging, residents can go to North Summit Climbing Gym to reach new heights. Local golfers can book a weekend tee time at Southmoore Golf Course, stationed just west of the township, while musicians and history buffs alike tour the Martin Guitar 1833 Shop and Museum. During the summer, the township comes alive for the annual carnival hosted by the Bushkill Township Volunteer Fire Company at Bushkill Township Park.
