Walkable with a neighborly vibe
Near the east end of Cambridge, Massachusetts, sits Wellington-Harrington, a former industrial area that has become a densely populated, walkable residential neighborhood with multicultural restaurants and locally-owned businesses. "It has a real neighborhood feel," says Gail Roberts, a Cambridge-area property expert and Realtor with Coldwell Banker Realty. "It's where you see your neighbors out on the street and get to know them." According to Ed Feijo, Roberts' business partner and fellow Coldwell Banker Realtor, this community vibe remains despite some new development and turnover happening in Wellington-Harrington and surrounding neighborhoods. "There's a mix of people, from families that have lived in the neighborhood for generations to people who have recently moved there for a job at one of the life sciences companies or MIT," Feijo says. "But it still has that sense of a neighborhood."

There's also Vincent’s restaurant and wine bar, a popular corner spot where nearly every item is made from scratch, and Muqueca, a Brazilian eatery that serves a traditional seafood stew in stove-top clay pots. There are also several Italian, Indian and Mexican restaurants in the neighborhood, but Taza Chocolate, a fair-trade chocolate shop that works directly with cacao farmers, is a can't-miss. For everyday shopping needs other than chocolate bars, residents can stop by Hampshire Market, a small shop that is well-stocked with basics, the neighborhood Dollar General store, or one of the nearby Whole Foods Markets for larger grocery runs.

I have no opinion on the politics in this city, politics does not interest me at this point because I do not trust any one to do the job they claim they want to do once elected into there positions.

I find that the ratio of cars, trucks and bikes on the streets make it hard for anyone to be happy when crossing the streets. Also, the bikers have practically taken over the street and sometime side walks, but I'd rather have them on the side walks were it is safe for them. It is dangerous for our children and teens to be riding their bikes on the streets, bike lanes or not. The bike lanes are taken up space that the lanes use to having for pulling over and the bikers do not follow the biking rules I grew up with. Bikes are not supposed to be ridden during bad weather ( snow or rain) they are usually put away in the winter months for their safety as will as the drivers out there. They are always n the blind side of a persons view weather driving or walking. It is a great idea to bike but they need to find a better way, and I don't think its fair that the car owners pay for the bike lanes.
