Endless outdoor attractions highlight Cantonment
Cantonment is highlighted by its diverse mix of recreational opportunities. The Perdido River Wildlife Management Area is a 6,000-acre reserve with a nearly 18-mile hiking trail with views of the local flora and fauna. The wildlife area also has spots for camping and people can go paddling along the Perdido River Canoe Trail. The Muscogee Mountain Bike Trails provide several miles of challenging courses through the area’s dense forests. Carver Park is a small greenspace with a playground, basketball court and picnic area. Badger Circle Park is another small green space in the middle of neighborhood homes that has lots of playground equipment and a picnic area. The Escambia River, 2 miles east of Cantonment, is the fourth largest river in Florida and was named the best river to fish in by the Florida Department of Fish and Wildlife. Common species in the river include bass, sunfish and catfish. Drive 20 miles south and enjoy miles of sandy shoreline along Pensacola Beach.
