Small-town living in southwest Oregon
Azalea is a rural, recreational area that used to be a gold mining area in the mid-1800s. Today, the community offers people more convenience than gold, as it sits right on Interstate 5 -- the main highway in the area. “It’s halfway between Grants Pass and Roseburg, which both have major employers,” says Brett Findlay, a Real Estate Broker with North Count Realty who has lived in Southwest Oregon his entire life. Families tend to stay in the area for generations, which Findlay says has created a small-town feel. Azalea attracts outdoor enthusiasts with its high elevation of 1600 ft.– many people hike the Klamath mountains. “It’s a beautiful area,” Findlay says.

The price range depends on the number of bedrooms and acreage size. “The area usually has friendlier prices compared to other areas in Douglas County,” Findlay says. “I’ve also seen many people move here from California for better prices.” Most homes are surrounded by woodsy forests and the Klamath Mountains. No matter the home type, properties have front porches with sidewalks that lead to paved driveways.
