Small-town living in southwest Oregon
Azalea is a rural, recreational area that used to be a gold mining area in the mid-1800s. Today, the community offers people more convenience than gold, as it sits right on Interstate 5 -- the main highway in the area. “It’s halfway between Grants Pass and Roseburg, which both have major employers,” says Brett Findlay, a Real Estate Broker with North Count Realty who has lived in Southwest Oregon his entire life. Families tend to stay in the area for generations, which Findlay says has created a small-town feel. Azalea attracts outdoor enthusiasts with its high elevation of 1600 ft.– many people hike the Klamath mountains. “It’s a beautiful area,” Findlay says.
