Kelly Ranch is in its own bubble in Carlsbad
Kelly Ranch is central to what defines Carlsbad, a coastal city often called the Silicon Valley of golf, with major companies like Callaway and TaylorMade based there. Yet OB Juncal, a local broker and owner of ERA Ranch & Sea Realty, says it's still its own bubble — separated from the city's more intertwined communities by a lagoon and business park. "It was fields when I was in high school. We'd go ride our skateboards there and go up into the hills and do donuts in our car," he said. Outside of being drawn to Carlsbad's coast, Kelly Ranch also brings people in for the private lifestyle and recreation, including easy access to golfing and boating in a nearby lagoon. And despite being more secluded, shopping, dining and entertainment are a short drive away.
Companies like TaylorMade give Kelly Ranch the name "the Silicon Valley of golf."

Surrounded by golf, lagoons, trails and a theme park
Kelly Ranch is between two public championship golf courses and next door to a park with a ball field and soccer field. Crossings at Carlsbad Golf Course is on the neighborhood's southern side and is connected to Legoland via a trail. Legoland has a theme park, on-site Lego-themed hotels, a water park and an aquarium. "For many people with younger kids, it's kind of like going to the park," Juncal said. Kelly Ranch is also less than a mile from Agua Hedionda Lagoon, three lagoons bordered by trails. The largest, 295-acre lagoon allows for jet skis, power boats, sailboats and kayaks. Carlsbad State Beach is less than 3 miles away for swimming, surfing and lounging.

Southwestern-style homes are common, ranging from traditional to customized. Some of the largest homes are on a hill, closer to the golf course on the neighborhood's southern side, offering distinct ocean views. Juncal says homes to the west bring mountain views, and those to the west are closer to a creek and marshland. Homes range from around $1.5 million to $3 million, depending on size, location and quality. The neighborhood also has some manufactured homes ranging from $590,000 to $670,000.
