Outdoor recreation and strong schools draw buyers to Poinsettia

Poinsettia offers suburban, coastal living convenient to neighborhood parks, shopping and dining. Kevin Schwartz, a local Realtor with Century 21 Affiliated, says some of the biggest draws include its location near the beach, well-performing schools and surrounding recreation. Poinsettia is also only 30 miles from San Diego, making it convenient to the bigger city. “You're seeing more and more people working locally,” Schwartz adds, noting that Carlsbad has its own robust economy largely centered around golf and biotech industries.

Places to skate, play soccer and surf close to home

Poinsettia Park is where a lot of locals come to play tennis and pickleball. It also has a dog park, a playground, and is a meeting place for a group of moms for fitness classes. Aviara Community Park is another popular spot, boasting a large turf soccer field and a baseball field. Swimmers and shredders can find an aquatic center and skate park just east at Alga Norte Community Park. Nearby golf courses, including a public championship course The Crossings at Carlsbad, are go-tos for tee time and lessons. The beach is a short drive away, and city trails promote an active lifestyle. Hikers can look up trail difficulty and connectivity through the online portal GoHike Carlsbad. Four miles away is Legoland California Resort, which features a theme park and aquarium. Locals can walk trails, boat and fish in surrounding lagoons — the farthest roughly 6 miles away.

Suburban layout with parks, churches and winding roads

Southwestern-style homes are common here. “You have a wide range of size variations from entry level all the way up to very, very large estate-style homes,” Schwartz says. “This neighborhood is fairly established. There is not a lot of room for building. But there are small infill projects here and there.” Neighborhood streets are compact and somewhat hilly, many with small front yards springing with palm trees. Greenbelts between subdivisions and anchoring neighborhood parks add spaciousness. The landscape is overall suburban, yet main roads lead throughout, winding past churches, schools and businesses. Mountains rise in the distance. Single-family homes range from $925,000 to $1.9 million. Larger and more luxurious properties fetch more than $2 million to about $3.7 million. Townhouses and condos sell for around $680,000 to $1.7 million.
