You can still go for a drive on a country road in the Green Level community.
Local history and recent growth both on display
Starting out as a crossroads along the road between Raleigh and Pittsboro around 1800, Green Level is one of the oldest surviving crossroads communities in the state—and though its history is a point of pride for the community, it’s the blend of old and new that makes the area so unique. “There’s a lot of new construction in the area,” says Joe Matthews, owner of Real Triangle Properties and longtime resident of the area. “And it has a great mix of nearby access and nature, so it’s become a really appealing neighborhood in recent years.” Urban access, natural beauty, and a timeless quality to the area makes Green Level an attractive option in one of the fastest growing suburbs in North Carolina.
The newest subdivision within Green Level is known as Bedford Hills.
Lots of new construction in Green Level
While Green Level is itself a very historic area, with official recognition by the National Register of Historic Places, the explosive growth of Cary and its surrounding area means that housing in Green Level is decidedly new. Not only that, but single-family homes are typically set on large lots—meaning that homeowners can appreciate a slice of the area’s natural beauty all their own. Styles in the neighborhood include custom builds, new traditional, and modern contemporary. Townhouses are also common throughout, with most of them featuring similar modern contemporary stylings. Single-family, three-bedroom homes in the neighborhood typically start at around $750,000 and go up to $1.4 million—though larger custom estates can go for as high as $2.8 million. A three-bedroom townhouse, meanwhile, ranges from $450,000 to $650,000.
Green Level High School has many great athletic teams and after school clubs.
Green Level High earns top marks
Students in Green Level start their learning at White Oak Elementary, before moving on to Mills Park Middle School and finishing up at Green Level High School. According to Niche, these schools earned scores of A, A, and A-plus, respectively—making the school district one of the highest rated in the area. “Green Level High School is new, with great facilities,” says Matthews. “And it’s already very well thought of.” Students at Green Level High can choose between a number of clubs and electives, including the highly rated marching band and color guard programs.
Fred G. Bond Park offers Green Level residents activities for the whole family.
Urban access, but surrounded by natural beauty
Green Level offers residents ample opportunity to appreciate the outdoors, with Thomas E. Brooks Park being one such place to do so. Located in the northeast corner of the neighborhood, the park offers athletes plenty of choice with its basketball courts, soccer fields, and baseball diamond. One of the most popular attractions in the area, Cloer Family Vineyards is another destination for scenic views and pleasant strolls. Those looking for hiking trails will find them at the American Tobacco Trail, which features over 22 miles of trail and runs through nearby Raftery Park.
From retail to dining, Beaver Creek Commons has something for everyone.
Chains, boutiques, and cafes all call the area home
Heading east along Route 64, residents can cross items off their shopping lists at Beaver Creek Crossings. This commercial hub features well-known retailers such as Target, Lowe’s and TJ Maxx, along with several chain restaurants. Residents can pick up groceries at the nearby Harris Teeter or Publix. Those looking for something a little more local can check out Sushi Iwa for classic sushi offerings, pad thai, and pho. Mamacita is another option, serving up authentic Mexican cuisine along with craft cocktails.
Green Level is south and west from Raleigh Durham's Research Triangle Park.
Just 25 miles from Raleigh
Life in Green Level, and Cary in general, means residents are just over 25 miles from Raleigh. As such, access to medical offices, jobs, museums, and NC State is a constant. Research Triangle Park, a leading employer in the area with companies IBM and Epic Games calling it home, is just 10 miles away. Residents also have access to Highway 55 and the Raleigh-Durham airport for traveling needs.
Cloer Family Vineyards is a locally owned family business.
Get together at Cloer Family Vineyards
Community spirit is strong in Green Level, and though the area is close to Raleigh-Durham, it maintains its own sense of identity. Cloer Family Vineyards exemplifies this with its series of wine tastings, tours, and events—with things such as the Tunes & Toasts concert series and Ladies’ Night Out. Cary itself has even more opportunity to connect and celebrate with the community, like at its annual Lazy Daze Arts & Craft Festival.
GreatSchools:
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
