Variety of sophisticated home styles
Condos and townhouses, such as in the Glen Echo section, will start in the mid-$300,000 range. In the Williamsburg Commons subdivision, ranch-styles and Cape Cods take inspiration from Virginia’s Colonial Williamsburg. Prices here range from $530,000 to $750,000. At the opposite end of the price range, a five- to six-bedroom estate with lake views will start at $1.2 million and go as high as $1.8 million. These homes tend to be a mix of Traditional and Transitional architecture, offering both a classic brick exterior, large windows and modern features like recreation rooms and even a personal boat dock.Lochmere Golf Club and Ritter Park
The semi-private Lochmere Golf Club is open to those living in or out of the neighborhood. "The biggest reason people come is the golf course,” Williams says. “Whether you're a golfer or you like the proximity, it's a great spot." In addition to the 18-hole golf course, Lochmere's private amenities feature tennis and pickleball courts, six playgrounds, a clubhouse and scenic neighborhood lakes. While there is no swimming in any of the lakes, there are multiple pools in the community. Residents can enjoy dockside fishing and boating on the private Lake Lochmere or strolling the mile-long paved trail. Just outside of the neighborhood are Jack Smith Park, Harold D. Ritter Park and Hemlock Bluffs Nature Preserve, which offers shaded trails to hike in the summer.Wake County top-grade schools
Oak Grove and Swift Creek elementary schools both earn an A-minus from Niche. Students may then move on to Dillard Drive Magnet Middle, scoring a B-minus, or Lufkin Road Year-Round Middle, which gets an A grade. Athens Drive Magnet High also earns an A grade and has a magnet theme of medical sciences and global health initiatives. As a magnet school, students not initially assigned to the school can apply to attend. “The schools are rated in the above average category,” Korbin says.
Koka Booth Amphitheatre events
The Lochmere clubhouse offers tennis and pickleball clinics, weekly yoga and events like an annual yard sale through the homeowner’s association. Korbin says, “They really like to engage the property owners.” Lochmere's location in Cary means residents also have quick access to Koka Booth Amphitheatre, a lakeside outdoor performing arts venue about 4 miles west on Regency Parkway. Popular community events include the Beer, Bourbon & BBQ Festival, Oktoberfest, a Chinese Lantern Festival and a Fourth of July show.GoCary buses near retail centers
