Luxury homes in Preston
Built to woo executives and top-paid talent, Preston’s real estate market stands apart from what’s common in Cary. The average home value in Preston is roughly $1 million, compared to $650,000 across the town of Cary. Condos sell in the mid-$300,000s, but it’s not uncommon for single-family homes with four-plus bedrooms to cost $1 million, with some estates fetching more than $3 million. Wide yards put some distance between the houses and the winding streets, with gardens and hedges often filling the space in between. Most homes were built in the ‘90s, and that’s reflected in the common architectural styles: neocolonials and neo-eclectic houses that combine multiple styles. There’s significant demand for homes in Preston’s competitive housing market, as evidenced by a story Holt tells. “A guy wanted $1.5 million for his home, and another guy drove up and said, ‘I’ll give you $2.5 million if you’ll sell it today.’ The homeowner said, ‘Done.’”Prestonwood: A highly rated Raleigh-area country club
Members of Prestonwood Country Club have access to three golf courses, 15 tennis courts and an aquatics center. Country Club Magazine named Prestonwood one of the 10 best country clubs in the Raleigh area. Those who don’t join the private club aren’t without recreation options. On the west side of Preston, the city-owned Cary Tennis Park features 32 free-to-play courts that accommodate tennis and pickleball. Just south of the neighborhood, a playground, tree identification trail and a ropes course await at Fred G. Bond Metro Park. All nearby schools earn grades of A
Part of the Wake County Public School System, Preston has two public campuses nearby. One is Morrisville Elementary School, graded an A by Niche. Since 2005, Morrisville Elementary has twice been named a National Blue Ribbon School, the most prestigious recognition given by the U.S. Department of Education. Green Hope High School is the other nearby campus; the high school gets a Niche grade of A-plus. The only school that requires a bit of a drive is Alston Ridge Middle School, an A-rated school 6 miles away.Catch a movie with fellow Preston residents
Residents who check the Preston Village Facebook page find plenty of ways to hang out with neighbors. The page promotes neighborhood events, including family-friendly movie screenings at the community picnic shelter and trunk-or-treat night in October.Research Triangle, other jobs hubs are nearby
Car is the primary way to get around Cary, though GoCary buses do stop along High House Road south of the neighborhood. These buses head to downtown Cary, or motorists can make the 6-mile drive themselves. Multiple employment hubs sit nearby, with Research Triangle Park 8 miles away, Raleigh 15 miles to the east and Durham 15 miles in the opposite direction.Breakfast and bread at La Farm Bakery
A pair of shopping center on the south side of Preston house Lowes Food, the local grocery store, and a handful of eateries. Customers grab breakfast sandwiches and take home loaves of ciabatta bread from La Farm Bakery. Ramen and rice bowls are on the menu at the family-run Miso Ramen Bar across the street. Two miles up the road, another retail complex is stocked with a Target, T.J. Maxx and AMC Theatre. One amenity not in the immediate area is a hospital; the closest place for medical treatment is WakeMed Cary Hospital, 8 miles way.
