Lake Howell's schools rank among the best in Central Florida
Public school students around Lake Howell have access to stellar academic programs. Local Broker Raul Otero says, "Lake Howell's schools are some of the best in Central Florida. The high school is up there with some of the best schools in the country." Students begin their studies at primary schools like Lakemont Elementary. This school holds an overall B-plus Niche rating and teaches from kindergarten through fifth grade. Students move on to intermediate and secondary institutions such as Tuskawilla Middle and Lake Howell High School. Both schools have at least a B-plus Niche rating. Lake Howell High is unique among the nation's schools in that it offers students the option to earn an associate's degree in business during their tenure.

Residents have easy access to private and public recreation
The 400-acre lake has no public boat ramps and is accessible only to the area's residents. Lake Howell's depth varies from three to 24 feet in some places, and most of the community HOAs allowing lake access recommend that boaters consult the lake's topography to avoid sand bars. With this in mind, boaters and anglers can safely fish for largemouth bass and bluegills swimming around the lake. Public water and fishing access are available just north of Lake Howell at Red Bug Lake Park, which also features a playground, tennis courts, soccer fields and a boardwalk where locals can enjoy views of the surrounding wetlands. Baseball and softball enthusiasts can run the ball fields at Wirz Park or bike through the forest along the Casselberry Greenway Trail.
