Cowlitz County neighborhood with plenty of outdoor recreation
Silver Lake is a rural neighborhood 8 miles west of Castle Rock. “It’s only 5 miles off the freeway. So many buyers move here from out of state, with one kid or grandkid in Seattle, and one in Portland. It’s a common place for retired people to move into,” says Darla Brown, Realtor at Windermere Northwest Living with over 30 years of real estate experience. While it’s not a destination for shopping or dining, this scenic lakeside community offers something a bit more unique: views of Mount St. Helens.
Prices in Silver Lake ange from $508,000 to $670,000.

The lake welcomes a variety of recreational activities, from wakeboarding to swimming to boating. One way to access the water is from the boat ramp at Seaquest State Park. From this 475-acre park, folks can admire the snowcapped Mount St. Helens in the distance. Within the park, Mt. Saint Helens Interpretive Center offers a way to learn about the area’s geological history for those who don’t want to drive up closer to Washington’s famous active volcano, 37 miles east.
