Despite being only 18-miles from downtown Denver, the neighborhood of Foxridge offers residents a quiet sense of community where the neighborhood itself makes improvements. “We have the best of all worlds without going through an HOA – and for much less money compared to the communities around us,” says Martha Riley, president of the Foxridge Improvement Association.
The curved main streets of Foxridge have established bike lanes that run parallel to mature trees that grow along the sidewalks throughout. Peeking from behind these trees are well-kept homes that are similar in design, each with unique Craftsman-style details. Manicured yards offer enough room to customize with trees and flower beds. The neighborhood is made up primarily of 3- and 4-bedroom homes built during the late 1970s and early 1980s. Those looking to move to Foxridge can expect to pay between $550,000 for 3-bedroom houses and $950,000 for 4-bedroom homes.
The neighborhood of Foxridge is one of many communities located in the city of Centennial, a short 18-mile drive south of Denver. However, it doesn’t have an HOA and the typical related fees, which sets Foxridge apart. The community has opted instead to be managed by the Foxridge Improvement Association, which is run by community members and has an optional membership fee. “We organize events like a Halloween parade, fall clean-ups and holiday carriage rides,” says Riley.
Cherry Creek School District has several highly rated schools, including Dry Creek Elementary School, which has received an A-minus grade from Niche. Middle schoolers can attend John Wesley Powell Middle School, which Niche has assigned a C. Older students can head to Cherry Creek High School, which has an A-plus rating from Niche and is ranked number two on its list of best public high schools in Colorado. The school is known for its high graduation rates and percentage of college preparedness among students, thanks to its AVID college prep course, which focuses on improving writing skills and group cohesiveness.
What makes Foxridge unique are the many trails of Willow Creek that weave their way through the neighborhood. These walkways connect the community and lead back to the main trail that runs alongside the creek, with room for jogging and biking. Ample parking can be found at the main entrance of Willow Creek Park, less than a mile from Foxridge, which features a large playground and access to a small bridge that overlooks the flowing creek. Closer to home is Foxridge Park, where visitors can walk from their homes and enjoy a spacious playground, soccer field, and a baseball batting practice area.
Though primarily a residential area, the neighborhood is close to many options for dining and shopping. Denver Biscuit Company., found in Centennial’s Quebec Village Shopping Center, is a local breakfast favorite that serves comfort food focused around its famous biscuits. In the southwest corner of Foxridge is Wave the Grain – Centennial, a local bakery that serves dairy-free and vegan options typically not found in most bakeries. Right next door is King Soopers, where grocery shopping can be handled all in one place. A 3-mile drive from Foxridge is Park Meadows, the state's largest shopping mall. It’s home to over 185 shops and has a flowing waterfall at its center.
Those looking to get involved in the community have several options within reach. The Club at Foxridge is home to the Swim & Racquet Club, which has a recreational pool, tennis lessons and neighborhood events like family dinners. The club also hosts an established community garden fostering neighborhood connections and agricultural education. On the outskirts of Foxridge is iFLY Indoor Skydiving, a close 2.8-mile drive, where visitors can experience skydiving without the risks. After exploring all that the city of Centennial has to offer, residents can always find a rich sense of community in Foxridge. Denver is just a skip away, thanks to nearby I-25, making says spent at museums or attending a baseball game at Coors Field an easy task.
