During the early 2000s, Saddle Rock Ridge set a record when the 2,075 houses in this master-planned community between Aurora and Centennial sold in less than three years. "It's a really nice part of Aurora that appeals to everybody," says Jackie Stratton, a real estate agent with Keller Williams' Centennial office whose very first listing was in this community over a decade ago.
Stretching across 500 acres, this community features four main roads -- Powers Avenue, Riviera Way, Tempe Street, and the Versailles Parkway – that form an "H" shape at its center. Each route has a handful of subdivisions with names like The Enclave, the Hills and The Knolls, where you'll find a mixture of three and four-bedroom contemporary houses on 5,000 to 9,200-square-foot lots. "These older, suburban areas are popular because they have bigger yards," Stratton says, comparing Saddle Rock Ridge to newer developments with smaller lots. These houses fetch $450,000 to $750,000 apiece, which Stratton says is on par with the Denver Metro's median price range. Each subdivision has sidewalk-lined streets, gray communal mailboxes and a handful of newer trees – some of which still have stakes holding them upright – that have been planted along the road and in many front yards.
Children in Saddle Rock Ridge will attend Antelope Ridge Elementary School, which serves the northern half of the community, or Canyon Creek Elementary School, which serves the southern half. From here, they'll attend Thunder Ridge Middle School, which has a mission statement asking students to dream big, inspire everyone, create a road map, believe in themselves, achieve, and work hard. The community's students will be split up again, with those in its northern half going to Eaglecrest High School and those in the southern half going to Cherokee Trail High School. Respectively, these five schools received a B-plus, a B, an A-minus, an A, and an A-minus from Niche. They're also part of the Cherry Creek School District, which the website named the third-best of Colorado's 172 public school districts.
This community also offers its fair share of parks. Children can enjoy a covered playground at the northern end of the community when they need shade from the blazing Colorado sun and a regular playground at the southern end of the community for cloudy days. Saddle Ridge Park offers a bit of open space outside Antelope Elementary that would be perfect for a picnic, and you can take a quick walk down the High Plains Trail through the center of the community and along its perimeter. And while Saddle Rock Ridge doesn't have any of its own shops or restaurants, it sits just outside a cluster of shopping centers on the E470 Toll Road where you'll find a Safeway, a Sam's Club, a Target, and a Walmart. This area is also home to a few restaurants like The Copper Pot, a homestyle restaurant known for its large portions, and The Rock Restaurant and Bar, which describes itself as "a lively tavern with sports on the TV and a patio."
Those looking for more simply need to follow this toll road through Aurora, Brighton, Commerce City, and Parker. It also intersects Interstates 25, 70 and 76, increasing the number of destinations the community's residents could visit without going for that long of a drive. Stratton says being able to access these urban areas from a suburban area like Saddle Rock Ridge has to be one of its top selling points. "It truly is the best of both worlds," she says.
