Mazyck-Wraggborough
Classic style throughout
Homes in the area are known for their vintage aesthetic, with the regional Charleston single house making its presence known throughout the neighborhood—along with a number of revitalized examples of other historic styles. Some of Charleston’s most grand architecture is found in Wraggborough, with Colonial, Victorian, and Greek Revival estates all on display. Homebuyers looking for a single-family home will find mostly the aforementioned Charleston single houses, cottages, and the occasional traditional style home. Townhouses and condominiums are also in the neighborhood, with these being the primary examples of new construction available. Prices in the neighborhood generally range from $450,000 to $3.5 million—with condos and townhouses occupying the lower end of the range, and single-family homes usually starting around $1 million. In comparison to some nearby neighborhoods, the market is considered a bit more buyer friendly. “You can get more house for less, especially with larger builds, in Wraggborough than you would south of Broad Street,” says Trouche.Enjoy the beautiful Charleston Garden District
Considered a part of Charleston’s Garden District, Mazyck-Wraggborough residents have almost countless options when it comes to getting out and enjoying the outdoors. Both Wragg Mall and Wragg Square offer peaceful green spaces, with Wragg Square featuring a small garden right next to Second Presbyterian Church. “The parks, museums, and overall scenery are probably the things that really bring the neighborhood to life,” says Trouche. Tiedemann Park offers residents the opportunity to shoot some hoops on its basketball court. Sitting along Charleston’s Museum Mile, residents also have access to the Children’s Museum of the Lowcountry, the Galliard Auditorium, and the Charleston Museum—the latter of which was founded in 1773 and is also known as “America’s First Museum.”No shortage of options for shopping and dining
Residents are within walking distance of shopping and dining options, and nearby King Street provides even more to choose from. Those looking to fill their bellies can do so at one of Charleston’s staple restaurants, including local favorite Coast—where residents can get all things seafood. Bay Street Biergarten is a great spot for drinks with friends after work, and 39 Rue de Jean serves up classic French fare. For groceries, East Bay Street’s Harris Teeter is less than one mile away. For more options when it comes to filling up the pantry, Marion Square hosts a farmer’s market every Saturday.Marion Square is the home to Charleston's festivals
In addition to weekly farmer’s markets, Marion Square also hosts Charleston’s largest festivals—events like the Charleston Food & Wine Festival, which features tastings, live chef demonstrations, musical performances, and more. During the spring, the Spoleto Festival spends a little over two weeks filling Charleston’s parks, churches, and venues with performances by well-known artists and performers in a variety of genres and styles.Burke High has a lot options
Students in the neighborhood begin learning at Memminger Elementary, before moving on to Simmons Pinckney Middle and finishing up at Burke High School. According to Niche, these schools earned ratings of C-plus, C, and C, respectively. Students at Burke High have plenty of options when it comes to clubs and activities, with many courses aimed at career and technology education.Cross off daily errands on foot
Mazyck-Wraggborough, like much of Charleston in general, is extremely walkable and residents can accomplish most errands without the aid of a vehicle. Public transportation is limited in the area, partly due to the nature of the older roads. Those needing to get to the surrounding area can still do so easily thanks to nearby Highways 30 and 17, and Interstate 26 also provides residents with efficient access. Students at the College of Charleston can walk to and from class, while the Charleston International Airport sits just over 11 miles away from the neighborhood.
