Northbridge Terrace is a quiet, central and scenic area in West Ashley
Northbridge Terrace is a quiet but well-connected neighborhood on the northeast side of West Ashley, a popular Charleston suburb. Its proximity to Sam Rittenberg Boulevard, a thoroughfare lined with shopping and dining options, means residents can easily commute to North Charleston and downtown Charleston. Despite this convenient location, the community offers residents a quiet, family-oriented atmosphere. Beautiful marshland and the calm waters of Orangegrove Creek border the east side, providing some properties with stunning views of the Lowcountry horizon.
Variously styled 1960s houses and a smattering of waterfront properties
Northbridge Terrace was developed in the 1960s with vinyl- and brick-sided houses on mid-size lots. Classic suburban styles line its streets, including Cape Cods, Colonial Revivals and Minimal Traditional ranch-style and split-level homes. Some of the most expensive options are at the ends of road loops and cul-de-sacs on the community’s east side. Many feature backyard docks that cross the marsh to Orangegrove Creek. Sales data is limited for this neighborhood, but on the rare occasions that homes become available, prices tend to range from roughly $500,000 to $960,000.
A neighborhood park and pool, plus a fishing pier 2 miles away
The Northbridge Terrace Park and Pool is a small green space surrounded by oak, pine and palm trees. Membership is required for the pool. Perks include swim lessons for all skill levels and the option to register kids for the Northbridge Terrace Killer Whales, a competitive swim team. Northbridge Park is another popular option, offering a multimodal path that connects to a small, island-like park with a dock, fishing pier and beautiful views of the Ashley River.
Residents are minutes from various places to shop, dine and drink
Old Towne Road merges with Sam Rittenberg Boulevard (SC Highway 7) just outside the neighborhood. The intersection is home to Ashley Landing, a shopping center with Publix, Big Lots, a couple of banks, chain restaurants and more. Other area dining options include Ms. Rose's Fine Food and Cocktails, popular for its funky, retro theme and classic Southern fare. Folks line up Sunday mornings at Biscuit Bros, a fast-casual breakfast joint. And sports fans crowd bars like Charleston Sports Pub and The Kickin’ Chicken to watch football games.
