Coulwood Hills
The Sports Page and more options at Riverbend Village
Those looking for nearby shopping and dining options don’t need to fret as Coulwood Hills has a few spots — some of which are relatively new — along both Bellhaven Boulevard and Mt. Holly-Huntersville Road. The Sports Page Food & Spirits on Bellhaven is a more than three decades staple. Patrons at the restaurant and bar can enjoy scratch-made game-day favorite like cheese fries and wings. Antojitos Latinos is a newer spot next door. It has won many locals over with its authentic pupusas. A Harris Teeter, Walmart and more chain brands can be found about 2 miles north in the area of the fast-growing Riverbend Village, which also houses commercial office spaces.A hop away from National Whitewater Center
With the U.S. National Whitewater Center just a few miles from Coulwood, residents can quickly to get a myriad of outdoor sporting activities that include, but are certainly not limited to, rafting and various types of rock climbing. The center is an outdoor complex on more than 1,300 acres of protected lands and has 50 miles of trail. Within Coulwood itself, residents often reserve the 1,300 square-foot ranch-style Community Clubhouse on Coulwood Drive for private parties and celebrations like birthdays and family reunions. Nearby on Coulwood Drive is the Coulwood Swim Club, which requires a private membership. Swimmers can also get in some workouts in the reserved lap lane. Coulwood Park offers an extensive and colorful playground amid the woods. Children can also climb atop colorful stacks of tires placed near the rear of the park. Golfers can also get in some rounds and scenic fairway views on the 18-hole championship course at the private Pine Island Country Club just off Mount Holly Road.Older ranch-style with growing inventory of Traditionals and Craftsmen
While many traditional ranch-style houses that go back to around the mid-20th century can still be found across the community, there is a growing amount of new two-story houses with Craftsman and traditional features. Those can be found in communities like the Aveline at Coulwood, where they stand out with their varied color palettes. Price points here for a roughly 1,700-square-foot home can go right around the mid-$300,000s. In fact, it's not uncommon for these modern homes with traditional and Craftsman features to fall somewhere in the $300,000s, which Burbank describes as rather unique for the Charlotte area. Some of the larger ones that are at least 2,000 square feet can go for over $400,000. Meanwhile, the much older ranch-styles can from the lower $300,000s to just under $450,000, with overall size playing a factor.Neighborhood middle school with STEM emphasis

Just a few of the extracurricular activities at the academy are national touring performing arts groups in band and orchestra and a regional award-winning Battle of the Books team.Regionally known July 4 parade
The Coulwood community puts on a number of events throughout the year. There’s the 4th of July Parade, which is well known throughout the region. Goers to the parade can stop by food trucks and take part in raffles, while children can get their faces painted. Other smaller, yet still important, festivities include the Pancake Breakfast and the Easter Egg Hunt in March and a car show in September.Located just north of Charlotte Douglas International Airport
Interstate 485 cuts right through the middle of the community and ultimately loops around Charlotte. The interstate provides quick access to the neighboring communities and destinations located on both the west and northern edges of Charlotte. The Charlotte Douglas International Airport is located about 6 miles directly south of the neighborhood. A few Charlotte Area Transit bus stops can be found in Coulwood Hills. The CaroMont Regional Medical Center in Mount Holly is located about 5 miles west of Coulwood Hills.
