Harbor House offers a tucked-away feel and easy commutes to Uptown
Harbor House offers some homeowners private access to the Catawba River, but for most residents, the neighborhood’s main appeal lies in the second half of its name, specifically the comparatively affordable homes. Home prices here are relatively low for the Queen City. The community feels tucked away, but highway access makes it easy to reach Uptown or cross the river into the quaint city of Belmont for shopping and dining. Outdoor enthusiasts enjoy quick trips to the riverfront, nearby nature preserves and the U.S. National Whitewater Center, and families appreciate the access to nearby magnet school options.
Harbor House is bordered by the breathtaking and broad Catawba River.
Locally grown fresh produce is one the main staples of the Belmont Farmers Market.

Midcentury homes, waterfront properties and new construction
Harbor House features mostly midcentury ranch-style homes, Cape Cods and cottages resting in small subdivisions tucked behind warehouses and distribution centers. But there are also newer transitional builds, custom waterfront homes and two communities of manufactured homes. The neighborhood’s dense tree cover gives it a secluded feel. “It’s that little nook of Charlotte that’s still quiet, that still has big lots, and with a little elbow grease and sweat equity, you could make a house into a modern family home,” says Susan Roche, a Realtor with Coldwell Banker Realty.
There are plenty of large homes with extra space for families in Harbor House.
There are many newer homes available all throughout the Harbor House area.
You can still find pastures and crop fields in Harbor House, just minutes from Uptown Charlotte.

The median sale price is around $370,000, below Charlotte’s median and in line with that of neighboring Moores Chapel. Home prices start in the lower $300,000s and can reach the upper $500,000s. Manufactured homes rarely go on the market. “Getting a home out there is a good way to save. Everything that’s 30 feet from Charlotte is going to grow in value,” says Trevor Hall, a Realtor with Helen Adams Realty.

Highway access makes for straightforward commutes to Uptown
With direct access to Interstates 85 and 485, the neighborhood is a great option for commuters. Uptown Charlotte, comprised of the First Ward, Second Ward, Third Ward, and Fourth Ward, is about 11 miles away. The drive takes 15 to 30 minutes, depending on traffic. Charlotte Douglas International Airport is less than 4 miles away, a drive that can take as little as 6 minutes. With highways surrounding the neighborhood, walkability is extremely limited; you’ll want a car to get around.
