Just north of the Tennessee-Georgia line is the serene suburb of Clifton Hills. This convenient neighborhood stretching along Route 27 is home to an array of local businesses seated in the heart of Chattanooga.
Clifton Hills is a relatively affordable market, with single-family houses range from the $100,000s to the $300,000s on small, grassy lots of land. These properties are typically hardwood or brick, with smaller yards and sprouts of overshadowing trees. Residents live between the highway and the winding creek, so they have all their daily conveniences on one side and outdoor recreational space on the other.
Speaking of recreational space, while Clifton Hills is in the city, there are still many quiet outdoor escapes for residents to find. Play a game of soccer or explore the playground at the centrally located Caruthers Park. Just northeast of the area is Montague Park, home to the largest sculpture parks in the Southeast, with eye-catching installations on a tranquil green space. But the most popular destination near Clifton Hills is Lookout Mountain, a picturesque attraction just 14 minutes away where you can get a spectacular view from the Incline Railway.
Clifton Hills is home to a host of businesses and services, most of them on the neighborhood's east side along Rossville Boulevard. Just drive down this long stretch of road to find your nearest commercial spots, including convenience stores, beauty salons, professional services, eateries and thrift shops. Many of these are locally owned and all within easy walking or biking distance from home thanks to the sidewalks that line the streets. When it's time for a shopping break, take a seat at one of the boulevard's independent establishments, like Chubby's Bar-B-Q for mouthwatering barbecue sandwiches and Gallo Giro Restaurant and Market for authentic Mexican cuisine.
When they're out eating out or enjoying the parks, young people in Clifton Hills attend classes in the Hamilton County Schools district. Clifton Hills Elementary School keeps its students on their feet with extracurricular activities for younger kids like Girls on the Run and Operation: Get Active. Orchard Knob Middle School offers a vibrant athletics department, with teams from cheerleading to cross country. The Howard School is part of the county's Future Ready Institutes, which provide career-focus study programs to prepare students for post-graduation life. There are a few charter and private school options around Clifton Hills as well.
After a long day of work and school, take advantage of all the sights and attractions that the big city has to offer. Chattanooga's Main Street is just north of Montague Park and gives you a lovely vintage storefront of restaurants, shops, cafes and amusement spots. Experience the city's many cultural festivals, sporting events and live concerts, shop the ware of over 50 farms at the Chattanooga Market or cruise along the water at Chickamauga Lake. If you're traveling out of town, Interstate 24 runs along the north side of the neighborhood, so commuting is easy.
