Concord Audobon is a peaceful neighborhood with modern convenience

With a wildlife sanctuary to the south and Chattanooga's busiest shopping district to the north, Concord Audobon seamlessly blends suburban and natural settings. Hamilton Place is a short drive away on Gunbarrel Road, offering a large indoor mall, several shopping centers, chain restaurants and healthcare facilities. When you need some outdoor time, the Audubon Acres preserve has a wide variety of activities spread across 130 acres of pristine wildlife habitat. The neighborhood is also known for its convenient commuting options, with Interstate 75 offering a straightforward drive into downtown.

Houses range from established ranch-style homes to modern builds

Ranch-style homes make up much of the neighborhood, often set on hilly streets with towering trees on either side. Split-levels, early-2000s traditional homes and new construction houses are also found throughout the community. Quarter-acre lots lend a suburban feel to the neighborhood, while the lack of sidewalks and the dense foliage help some streets feel more rural. When it comes to prices, most homes fall between the upper $100,000s and the mid-$400,000s.

Trails, creek access and golf in the neighborhood

The Audubon Acres Nature Sanctuary is one of the neighborhood's highlights, with 130 acres of natural areas to explore. "I've got family that lives over there, and they're always talking about how cool it is," says Wendy Dixon, team leader at the Dixon Team Keller Williams, with 20 years of experience. The sanctuary has 5 miles of hiking trails, plus access to the South Chickamauga Creek for wading, tubing and kayaking. You can see a diverse mix of wildlife in the area, including barred owls, red-shouldered hawks, foxes, coyotes and beavers. The public Concord Golf Club is also in the neighborhood, offering an 18-hole, par-67 course that accepts walk-ups.

Hamilton Place puts shopping and dining close to home

Hamilton Place is just north of Concord Audobon, which Dixon says is the biggest perk of living here. The vast shopping district includes its namesake mall and several other stores. Some spots you can visit in the area include:

  • Hamilton Place mall, which has department stores like Dillard's, JCPenney and Belk
  • Grocery stores such as Whole Foods and Trader Joe's
  • Big-box stores like Target and Walmart
  • Chain restaurants such as Miller's Ale House, Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen and Chuy's
  • Popular locally owned eateries like Acropolis Grill and Forbidden City Restaurant

Interstate access keeps downtown within reach

The neighborhood's location near major highways is another perk. "It has easy access to get to 75 and the airport," Dixon says. "It's also 15 minutes to downtown. Most of Chattanooga is 30 minutes to downtown. It's a good, short drive." The commute to City Center is about 11 miles via I-75 and I-24. Traffic can get heavy on the interstates, so the typical 15-minute drive can be longer during peak hours. Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport is just 4 miles away via state Route 153, a drive that typically takes about 10 minutes.

Hamilton County Schools offers several education pathways

Students in the neighborhood are served by Hamilton County Schools. Education options for the area include:

  • East Hamilton High School, which has career pathways in marketing management and audio/visual production
  • Magnet schools, which include schools focused on STEM and arts education
  • Future Ready Institutes, which are programs within schools focusing on specific career pathways
  • Open enrollment schools, various schools throughout the district that accept students from outside their zones
Magnet programs, Future Ready Institutes and open enrollment schools all require applications, and placement is usually based on a lottery.
